Many organizations nowadays are faced with challenges in management due to continuous changes taking place in the market. This means that to direct the activities within an organization towards the right channel the leader should have a tough role in accomplishing all these. Therefore for a manager to perform his role effectively he should have various leadership qualities. Most of our hospitals today are faced with quite a several organizational changes that need to address the customer’s demands, cost-cutting issues, and the general improvement of services in the healthcare systems. (William, 2005, p.34). This, therefore, means that the physiotherapist managing the physiotherapy team should have various leadership qualities in the execution of these issues. One of the qualities he is expected to possess is accountability. The physiotherapist should be accountable for any work done and report this to his manager and the team he is working with. Being accountable will enable him to ensure that things are moving in the right direction hence realizing the organization’s objectives. He should monitor, control and direct the team’s activities to enable them to become effective and efficient in their performance.

Another quality of a good leader that is expected in a physiotherapist managing the physiotherapy team is a discipline in taking responsibility. He should be responsible for his actions and duty. For effective competition in the healthcare systems, the physiotherapist is expected to have adequate knowledge based on the current standards of services delivery and competition in the market. Responsibility is also based on the selection of clients according to the clinical needs and possible means of handling the clients.

Good leaders are also known to be people with good skills and knowledge in strategic planning. Any organization should clearly define all the activities it wants to carry out within a given period to achieve its objectives. The current evolution in health care systems on delivery of services has seriously affected the management of different healthcare. Costumers need to be treated according to their interests therefore good strategic should be drawn to address the challenges. With effective strategic planning, the physiotherapist will be able to improve the services offered in the clinic. Good strategic planning is best summarized in SWOT analysis. The physiotherapist managing the physiotherapy team therefore should identify the organization’s opportunities strengths, weaknesses, and threats. After doing this he will be able to come up with possible skills in risk management

Leadership in most healthcare or hospitals is also affected by gender differences. Even in society women are always looked down upon. They are people who cannot have time and fully dedicate to their job. Physiotherapists are believed to be men who are highly responsible. Women do have a lot of responsibilities both at the workplace and in family issues. Therefore they don’t have time to dedicate to their duties.

A leader generally should motivate his people, should influence others positively and direct individuals of a group towards the attainment of the organization’s mission and vision. Due to the increasing research in business environment and leadership, we realized that today’s managers need to implement leadership skills into their companies’ inorder to survive. It, therefore, goes without saying that good leadership skills are very important to the success of a company as a business. (Michael, 2006, p.21).

In a business environment communication is one of the most important aspects of a good leader. Good communication skills are needed for one to become a good manager. This happens when the manager effectively conveys the right information to the subordinate on how he thinks the work is to be done. A good leader should speak his mind to his employees on how things are supposed to be done (Charlotte, 2004, p.56). By communicating with other members, the subordinate also has time to put their views and generate ideas that can as well help the manager improve the organization. It is said that learning is a continuous process and anybody can learn from anyone as long as the information obtained can bring some useful information.

A good leader should also ensure that things are moving in the right direction. This can effectively be done by motivating the members. Employees tend to relax in an organization where there is no motivation. A good leader should therefore try to motivate his subordinates. In addition to motivation, new challenges should also be introduced in the organization. People always become excited with challenging tasks as this increases their self-esteem thereby raising their motivation level.(Robert,2006, p.34).

A leader should be one that continuously gets more education to improve his leadership skills. This may include training in areas such as strategic management procedures, management styles, and public relations. Therefore a good leader should employ the above skills. For example for my cases as a physiotherapist working in a clinic then I am required to use the essential skills in the leadership styles. First, to make the clinic very successful I should be responsible to my clients. Clients here refer to patients who are supposed to be attended to. By being responsible I am expected to address patient’s needs and at the same time listen to them. Good communication procedures and skills will ensure and increase the continuous flow of patients in the clinic. This is because the major target or customers here are the patients who bring money.

Some nurses have been found to mistreat patients by either mishandling them or assaulting them. This may not bring any success in the organization since dealing with human beings is very different from dealing with goods. Being intelligent in the organization is also very important. As a physiotherapist, you need to have a lot of knowledge required to improve the business. Intelligence will help the clinic have an increase in the flow of resources such as money. Since the also other clinics located around offering the same devices then a lot of competition is expected to emerge so without good leadership skills the clinic will not be in a position so what is required is intelligence.(Tony, 2003, p.67).

Another factor expected of a leader when it comes to dealing with a human being is patience. This is a hospital therefore just like the named patient suggests a lot of patience to needed when handling these customers. The leader or as a physiotherapist being patient will attract the patients and at one point they will feel that the services offered are effective. The other quality that should be considered in such a scenario like hospitals is teamwork spirit. An individual cannot perform a duty alone and say that it is successfully done. In this case, you have come together with other colleagues by asking them how to improve on the work New skills of dealing with different kinds of problems are developed that might help one improve production, this might also bring some promotion on your part your more patients will be happy with your services.(Jill, 2007, p.54).

As a leader, you are also expected to be wise in making decisions. This will depend on the direction you want to take the organization. Depending on your thought you can either kill or save a life. So you need to be wise in your thinking to ensure that life is saved. Since you serving in the post of physiotherapist assistance, there is your boss and other subordinates below you-who you are responsible for. What is important is a leader on your own how should you relate to these people in the organization? You should develop good communication skills that can help you communicate effectively with these people. Your boss will need some information from you at the same time you also need to develop and support with other members. Effective communication, therefore, ensures that the right message is passed and delivered to the right person in the right channel. (Rost, 1991, pp.67-89).

In short, what you should have to succeed in your field of specialization are as follows: develop teamwork spirit in the organization, have good communication skills, be intelligent, responsible wise, and patient. The moment a leader has all these qualities then things will start to move towards the right direction the goal of the organization, in the long run, will be achieved.
