For me, leadership is an opportunity to prove to my colleagues and myself that my work is not in vain and I can apply my accumulated knowledge and skills successfully. In addition, realizing leadership ambitions is a means of career and personal growth because constant communication and decision-making help me learn new things and stimulate continuous learning. As essential leadership qualities and characteristics, I can emphasize self-development, a focus on patient outcomes as the key indicators of efforts made, timely challenge identification, and interest in improving problem-solving, teamwork, and some other crucial attainments. Heinen et al. (2019) categorize these competencies in accordance with their area of application. However, for me, these aspects are inseparable from one another. My current leadership strengths include conflict management and transformational capabilities. Shaughnessy et al. (2018) call the latter skill a valuable approach to “stimulating and inspiring followers” (p. 574). These perspectives are consistent with my vision of leadership and participation in collective activities.
Although this person is not involved in healthcare, Elon Musk is my leader role model. According to Khan (2021), Mr. Musk emulates charismatic and transformational leadership styles by being an unquestioned authority and constantly adapting the operating environment to the current interests of target markets. Elon Musk, despite his status as CEO, fits the image of a leader and not a manager because he is well aware of the situation in his company, promotes an appropriate corporate culture, and adheres to a multicultural approach to interacting with subordinates. His deep concern for employee safety is an example of his leadership in action, and he personally considers any injuries in the workplace (Khan, 2021). Mr. Musk motivates the staff to demonstrate high performance, and his ability to rally the team is an example to me.
