Environmental problems are not just a fashion for shopkeepers and recycled products. Every new decade, humanity receives increasingly persistent signals that the point of no return is getting closer. However, in the noise of information, numerous concerns are not accepted as the situation demands. People do not understand the problems of ecology because it is considered to be too global by the standards of one person. Nevertheless, every individual can influence the solution to environmental crises, and the more people unite in this direction, the more influential the fight will be.
Firstly, I can conduct educational seminars concerning consumption. I can likewise carry out campaigns to plant trees, being open to what is happening without judgment of other individuals (Levin, 2018). Another critical step is to reduce the use of resources and to explain the role of saving water and energy to the community. Equally critical is promoting the idea of compulsory recycling, especially the passing on of clothing to those who need it instead of just throwing away. Shared leadership refers to a management style in which managers approach their roles thoughtfully, cautiously, and with heightened awareness (Tams, 2018). It will help to plan appropriately and aim to work for results by getting more people involved.
Moreover, because conscious leaders are aware of the needs of others, they can constantly find new ways to improve their methods and techniques. Mindful individuals understand the feelings, thoughts, and experiences, and connect people with the same aim (Rogal, 2020). The specifics of the environmental problem require, first and foremost, an increase in the self-awareness of numerous people. When leaders use mindfulness practices and can lead conversations, they can develop a healthy culture where others emulate the same qualities (Markman, 2016). Leaders must respond to events as they are, not as they perceive them. It means staying engaged, learning to anticipate circumstances, and appreciating the perceptions of others.
Solving environmental problems requires developing a new mindset in all people, overcoming the stereotypes of technocratic thinking and ideas about the inexhaustibility of natural resources. The absolute condition for the further existence of humankind is the observance of the ecological imperative as the basis for environmentally safe behavior in all spheres. It is necessary to overcome alienation from nature, awareness and implementation of personal responsibility, and competent application of leadership practices to increase the level of responsibility.
