Nanotechnology can be described as a field that revolves around the manipulation of matter. In this case, it is normally on a molecular and atomic scale. When looked at from a different dimension, nanotechnology can also revolve around developing devices and other materials that might be structured. This means that such aspects must possess at least one dimension that should range from 1 to 100 nanometers (Davies 18). From a broad perspective, it should be known that nanotechnology is very diverse. This means that it can range from extensions of device physics to other new approaches. When it comes to such aspects, it should be based upon molecular self-assembly. This scale revolves around developing new materials and to an extent investigating whether those materials can be able to control matter on an atomic scale. As far as nanotechnology is concerned, it entails a lot of applications. These applications in the field of science can be organic chemistry, surface science, and others.
It should be known that nanotechnology has attracted a lot of debate on its future implications. This is based on the fact that nanotechnology can be able to create new materials and other applications that can be useful in different areas. Areas that might come into focus as far as these applications are concerned might be energy production, biomaterials, medicine, and to a large extent electronics. Although nanotechnology is very important, it has also raised other issues that need to be looked at like toxicity and environmental impact. The impact of non materials is therefore an issue that has attracted a lot of debate as time goes because of its potential effects on the global economy. This, therefore, raises the question of whether nanotechnology should be regulated by different governments. Nanotechnology can be described as a recent development in the field of science but it has been in existence for some time. Its emergence can be traced to the convergence of experimental advances (Khlesh 25).
Most notably, the emergence of nanotechnology can be traced to the 1980s. In recent years, the field of nanotechnology has been subject to a lot of public scrutiny and awareness. This means that there has been a lot of debate about its potential impact when looked at from different dimensions and perspectives. All withstanding, governments have moved in to fund research and promote research. The most notable initiative has been the National Nanotechnology Initiative. This has been followed by a lot of commercial applications of nanotechnology. In this case, it should be known that they are limited to bulk applications. As far as fundamental concepts are concerned, nanotechnology can be described as the engineering of different functional systems. In this case, it covers different concepts that are always advanced. This means that nanotechnology revolves around its ability to construct items. It uses techniques and tools that are developed today to create high-performance products that are sustainable (Davies 38). The basic foundation of nanotechnology has been provided by the evolution of different areas in physics.
The use of nanotechnology in the US has been increasing because many people have embraced it. This means that it has been used in different fields and areas to achieve greater expectations. The most notable area that has embraced nanotechnology is the field of computers where scientists are optimistic that they can create computers that will emulate brains abilities. These abilities revolve around perception, action, and sensation. Different industries in the US have started to embrace nanotechnology which is evident from the way it is being used. There are arguments that nanotechnology has established a beachhead in the economy which can be evaluated from different perspectives (Khlesh 46). This is based on the fact that the clothing industry has also started feeling the effects of nanotechnology. Simple innovations in nanotechnology are changing the way businesses carry out their activities which is understandable because technology is supposed to make things easier and better.
It should be known that the water industry in the US has also seen some advancement in nanotechnology. This means that nanotechnology impacts people’s lives in a broadway. Such an aspect can be explained by the development of the coating process that has enhanced the use of water. When looked at from the motor vehicle industry point of view, nanotechnology has been enhanced through the development of a plastic nanocomposite. This means that new vehicles are being made with different improvements in strength. On the other hand, there is a reduction in weight which has enabled vehicles to be fuel-efficient thereby increasing longevity. This has generated improvements in different areas based on the response that GM and Toyota have received (Khlesh 62). Golf club manufacturers have also joined the fray in trying to embrace nanotechnology by devoting big bucks to nano R&D. The use of nanotechnology in the US will continue being witnessed in different industries and fields because what is going on is a revolution.
The shift towards nanotechnology has been caused by the ability of people to work towards the same scale as nature. In this case, nanotechnology will continue affecting different aspects of life like the medicine that people use, energy supplies, food that is eaten among others. As far as the use of nanotechnology in the US is concerned, there has been an attempt to regulate its use. The most recent attempt to regulate the use of nanotechnology has been seen in the use of pesticides. This implies that there has been an attempt to develop a new policy for nanotechnology in pesticides. As far as scientists in the country are concerned, things that nanotechnology can help us to achieve resonate well with different ethical challenges (Davies 79). This implies that nanotechnology should be embraced because it can help us to achieve many things cost-effectively and sufficiently. From a broad perspective, it should be known that the US nanotechnology initiative has spent a lot of money to enhance its use in the country.
The systematic control of matter is what many stakeholders and scientists have insisted on in trying to ensure that nanotechnology is sustainable in the US. All this withstanding, the use of nanotechnology in the US has been criticized because of various issues. For instance, the US nanotechnology initiative has been blamed for its slowness to address environmental and safety concerns. In this case, the use of nanotechnology in the US will continue increasing as time goes by because people will continue looking for solutions to different problems (Davies 96). As advancements continue, the need for regulation will also be an issue because nanotechnology will cover many areas for long-term sustainability. The world market for products that have nanomaterials will continue increasing which argues well for the continuous development of nanotechnology in the US. This means that companies are harnessing properties of nanomaterials to be used in different products across distinct sectors.
