The National Organization for Women (NOW) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to achieving equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity or expression. It seeks to ensure that all American citizens are represented under the law equally, and no patterns of discrimination in any aspect of one’s life ever appear (“Statement of purpose,” n.d.). The overarching goals of NOW include different fights for both legal and social rights for women in the United States. As can be seen, this organization covers a vast majority of social problems, which stems from its sheer size and reach.

NOW has fought for justice for women for over fifty years, which enables it to compile a significant knowledge base regarding the issues it focuses on (“Statement of purpose,” n.d.). Moreover, the organization has numerous connections to other legal agencies that cooperate with it to protect women’s rights. NOW operates in all states within the country, which gives it the power to influence people’s perceptions of gender equality issues with great success.
Numerous social movements are affected by NOW’s activities, making it a widely renowned nonprofit organization. The organization’s reputation as a leader in many crucial initiatives, such as reproductive freedom, highlights its in-depth understanding of the modern political landscape in the United States (“Who we are,” n.d.). Throughout its history, NOW was at the heart of many women’s rights protests and marches. For example, the March for Women’s Lives and the Equal Rights Amendment protests were organized in part by this company (“Who we are,” n.d.). Thus, these facts suggest that NOW is a vital part of the current legal landscape in the country.
