Pennsylvania is a state that usually has natural hazards affecting it. The natural perils that take place in Pennsylvania are severe winter and tropical storms, floods, tornadoes, power outages, landslides, earthquakes, and wildfires (Tamara, n.d.). Pennsylvania is not a safe place to stay because natural hazards are likely to occur at any time. Living in Pennsylvania is a great danger to people because of the natural hazards that occur frequently and those that are likely to occur. The risk of living in Pennsylvania is much more than the risk of living in other states in the United States. The State is prone to floods that happen when there is heavy precipitation, overflowing rivers, or even dam failure. In case of floods, there will be a significant loss of properties that may not happen when living in other places like New York City. Pennsylvania usually encounters severe storms, which are very risky and dangerous.
I will be safe to live in New York City as it is one of the cities that are almost disaster-free. The chances of wildfires, tropical storms, or even earthquakes occurring are very minimal. New York City has invested heavily to contain the possibility of a mere natural disaster occurring. My safety is uncertain at the place I currently live in, which is California. In this state, we usually experience earthquakes almost every year. Wildfires also have a chance of taking place because they were a concern at some point (Tamara, n.d.). I will not move to another place with higher risk, even with an excellent employment opportunity. My preference is to be alive and safe than having money while in unsafe environment.
