Introduction
Offices are essential to determine people’s quality of life because a reasonable fraction of their lives is spent in the workplace. A dull office is likely to have a significant negative impact on one’s life. A person’s profession, hobbies, and other likes are likely to determine the outlook of the space. Monica’s office (see Appendix, Figure 1) is likely to be outstanding because of the designs and unique lamp designs that reflect Abu Dhabi’s verdant view and the rich ecosystem by incorporating the popular ducks into the design. The lamp design is critical because it determines how well a person will work.
Design Brief
The proposed design aims to provide users with a nature-like environment in the office. It will incorporate all the elements of nature, and as a person turns on the lamp, Abu Dhabi’s exceptional environment is presented with a fun and unique view. The key elements to be included in the design are a metallic base, a transparent polycarbonate, and a playful rubber duck resting on a stick to represent nature’s ecosystem.
The aim is to have sensitive on and off switches that can control the lamp and make it dim. The control switches will be touch-sensitive, and the battery will be rechargeable to ensure longevity. The general aim is to create an adjustable lamp to provide illumination focused on a specified surface for work or relaxation.
Moodboard Images
The mood board created for the lamp was inspired by an independent ecosystem involving the duck, water, and their relationship (see Appendix, Figure 2). Whimsical objects will be used to ensure that the lamp arena remains illuminated by the decorations. Since the lamp is used in the office of a graphic designer, the mood board is inspired by vibrant décor and water-themed imagery, such as droplets, to indicate the presence of life in the design. Other than the water themes, serene visuals create appealing art (Obidov & Ibrohimov, 2021). The design will likely revolutionize study rooms and offices by lighting them effectively.
Design’s Target Audience
The target audience for the lap design is people who cherish nature and love to work in places with serene environments. The other influential audience required for the design is people who value and love a combination of aesthetics and functionality to offer better outcomes in the discourse analysis. The designed lamp will meet the needs of people who love whimsical appearances to boost their mood and make them happy. The design is inspired by the viewpoint of the developer, who is a graphic designer (Obidov & Ibrohimov, 2021). The lamp produced will be ideal for creative environments, home offices, and others who cherish a creative lighting solution.
Space and Specs Selection
The selection of space and the basic specs are vital for the design. Users who work late in the office require an ambiance and lighting that is not only comfortable but also able to be controlled. In a room with numerous lighting sources, the ability to control the quality of light impacts the overall outcome.
The workstation must be near a window to attract light during the day and ensure that the light from the creative lamp is well-kept whenever it is dark. The corners near a window are the ideal space selected for the lighting, as the intersection of walls helps concentrate the light. The unique specification for the lighting system is to make it easy to use, such as rechargeable and touch-sensitive for easy control.
Panning and Sketching
A successful lamp design can be made possible through proper planning and sketching to ensure all the issues are raised and understood. Sketches and rough drawings will be the starting point in the development of the design. The sketches shown above were the ones to be used to develop the final drawing using the necessary tools and equipment.
The sketches will involve the metallic base, the rubber duck, the water, and the polycarbonate to ensure a visually appealing outcome. It is important to note that two-dimensional and three-dimensional sketches will be used for experimentation for polishing and using the tool to draw final features that appeal to the audience (Obidov & Ibrohimov, 2021). The design ensures that the lamp in the shape of a duck can rotate from one side to another.
Lamps Final Presentation
A combination of several items will represent the final product of the lamp design. All the technical aspects of the lamp will be cascaded to provide the desired outcome. The lamp serves different purposes by changing the quality of light.
The touch-sensitive lamp can change the brightness to ensure that each purpose can be served. Combining the different categories of light with the mood board for true inspiration gives a quality appearance in the long run. Depending on the needs, the lamp can illuminate the entire table or some parts and may be controlled by dimming or brightening it.
Conclusion
The insights into the design are to make the work more appealing and make the office desirable. Once the office is appealing, the work that follows will be appealing.
