Nowadays, effective management skills have become a necessary part of any human activity. It means that employees need developed abilities of leadership and awareness about settled theories on this issue. Workers of a dialysis center cannot be considered as an exception. Moreover, such establishments shall provide their patients with high-quality healthcare services because a kidney is a crucial organ of the human organism that cannot be healed inappropriately. Thus, nursing in the center should be provided by an organized team that might need a leader sometimes.
So, the mentioned medical care requires professionals that correctly interact with patients and each other as the treatment process is long and complicated. However, at times, the team needs a leader who can direct and manage the working process, maintaining an atmosphere of confidence and calmness. The leader may contain the qualities of a charismatic, visionary, and loyal person sustaining a collective motivation, intellectual stimulation, and consideration (Fischer, 2016). Thus, it might be necessary for leaders to develop these characteristics in themselves.
To manage the team, such a leader may apply advocacy by undertaking daily briefings and organizing team development by discovering relevant scholarly publications to deliver ideas of high-level healthcare. However, leaders might face challenging situations when a decision is not obvious, so they have to use their power and influence to take the initiative to decide. In this case, the leader also may take responsibility if the decision is wrong. Such an action might also be an application of authenticity as the manager demonstrates the transparency of intentions in leadership and loyalty to the team members and success. Moreover, the leader can improve team relations by arranging collective activities after working hours (cinema, pool, cafe).
It seems reasonable to assume that working in a dialysis center requires several professional skills and qualifications. The team should be organized appropriately to provide high-quality medical care. Sometimes, it needs a leader who can manage and direct. Such a leader might be charismatic and stimulating joint development. It can be reached by improving team members as professionals and in-team relationships and by applying effective methods of leadership.
