“Environmental health; data from H. Burr and colleagues advance knowledge in occupational and environmental health (employment status, working conditions, and depressive symptoms among German employees born in 1959 and 1965)” by H. Burr and published in 2015 addresses some of the factors that affect the health status of employees. The research is narrowed down to the analysis of the effects to which the members of German companies are exposed. Furthermore, the authors set an age restriction, therefore, limiting the application of their findings to the identified age group.
According to the outcomes of the study, part-time jobs turned out to be the primary source of stress for the male participants. Women were also largely depressed by the specified factors, yet their situation was aggravated by the lack of influence in the identified environment. To be more accurate, the lack of control over the role that they play in the organizations in which they are employed affects the target population to the greatest degree (Burr, 2015). Although the year of publishing the text of the regulation is not known, its power over the occupational safety standards in the countries that are under UNO’s aegis is truly ample. For instance, the tools such as the ratifications of the Occupational Health Services Convention, 1985 (No. 161) are mentioned. The authors make it clear that preventing injuries in the workplace and facilitating security must be viewed as priorities. It is suggested that tight supervision and the promotion of rigid organizational behavior principles should be used as the tool for promoting occupational health and safety.

The United States Department of Labor (2016) provides a rather detailed description of the concept of Occupational Health and Safety, also offering the visitors to enroll in training courses to improve their skills and acquire new ones. In their “Occupational safety outlook handbook,” the authors spell out what the responsibilities of occupational health experts include, what environment they have to work in, and what issues they will have to address. Furthermore, the authors point to the fact that there is a need to adjust to the rapidly changing environment of the labor force market. Particularly, it is explained that the principles of occupational safety may vary depending on the type of work, where it takes place (e.g., indoors or outdoors), the range of responsibilities (e.g., desk job or travel), etc.
Although the Department of Labor does not offer job positions to the people that are willing to make the workplace environment safer directly, it points to how one may explore the existing opportunities. In the “Job Outlook” section, the means of reviewing the employment options are described along with the crucial statistics about the subject matter. Furthermore, the significance of random inspections is highlighted by the authors. Furthermore, the significance of inspections is explained. For instance, the authors stress that the identified actions are taken to prevent injuries and traumas in the workplace.
