Introduction

I would like to witness the moment when the universal cure for all types of cancer will be invented. The primary reason is the fact that cancer is among the top causes of human mortality alongside cardiovascular diseases. However, the latter can be avoided by following a strict dietary regimen, which is accompanied by regular exercise activities. In the case of cancer, there is no single solution for the problem, because the given disease arises from a combination of unknown factors, which can be hereditary or environmental.

Main body

It is important to note that not all tumor types are dangerous and lethal, but the malignant ones are highly life-threatening. Malignant tumors can develop from a variety of cells – from skin epithelium to muscle cells, bones, or the nervous system – and occur in a variety of places on the body. Basic knowledge about where the tumor originated and what it consisted of allowing doctors to plan operations better — but it was not clear why, in some cases, cancer leads to rapid death, in others, it is effectively cured, and in others, it seems to disappear, but after several years may return with renewed vigor.

Moreover, the current approaches in combatting cancer are highly costly, both in terms of health and money. There are three major ways of fighting cancer incidents, such as chemotherapy, radiation, and hormonal. Chemotherapy is the introduction of cytotoxic (that is, toxic to cells) substances, most often drugs are administered intravenously. They are designed to destroy rapidly dividing cells – and in addition to the cells of the tumor, it also gets to other tissues, where they multiply quickly. These are the skin, mucous membranes, and bone marrow in which blood cells form – so typical side effects of chemotherapy include hair loss, stomatitis, bowel problems, anemia.

In radiation therapy, the area where the tumor is located (or where it used to be if it was removed surgically) is subjected to powerful radiation. Such treatment can be carried out before surgery to reduce the volume of the tumor (then it will be easier to remove it), or after surgery in an attempt to destroy all remaining malignant cells. The main problems of radiation therapy are the same as in “chemistry”: firstly, even using modern devices and techniques it is impossible to completely protect healthy tissues from aggressive effects, and secondly, cancer mortality remains very high. Tumors, the growth of which depends on the influence of hormones, do exist – and for the best effect, it is important to eliminate this effect. True, it is not hormones that are used for this, but their antagonists – agents that inhibit the synthesis of certain hormones or change the sensitivity of receptors to these hormones on the cells.

Such therapy is actively used for breast cancer in postmenopausal women or, for example, for prostate cancer in men. Breast cancer cells are often sensitive to hormones, that is, they contain receptors that recognize estrogen, progesterone, or both of these hormones. The presence of such receptors can be detected during a special analysis – and then prescribe drugs that will block the receptors, not allowing hormones to stimulate the re-growth of the tumor. Thus, the universal cure for all types of cancer would enable people to combat the disease in a highly reliable and effective manner.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is critical to note that modern oncology is working hard to come up with innovative solutions to fight cancer. However, these methods possess several harmful side effects with little to no guarantee of successful recovery. Thus, I would like to witness the moment when there will be a universal cure for all types of cancer. The main reason is that it will signify the day when humanity will be fully armed against any health issue.
