Pain is categorized into two: acute and chronic pain where acute pain is short-lived but chronic pain goes to around six months or even years. In most cases, elimination of the acute pain is not as difficult because it only involves discontinuation of the source of pain which is mostly the damaged tissue, or even the use of analgesia. It acts as a warning to people to discontinue in damaging action thus giving a chance to regenerative course of action. It is an indication that someone’s health has a problem thus in such a case a disease might be present. The research is based on the relationship between pain prevention and management with disease prevention and health promotion.

Pain and disease relationship

The relationship between pain and disease can be well understood by first defining the two terms. Pain has already been defined above as an objectionable physical or emotional occurrence that has some relationship with tissue damage while the disease is the adjustments of cells that are present in a body and the tissues. In one way or another, both disease and pain jeopardize continued existence in a certain environment. In most identification of diseases, there must have been some experiences of pain in a person which might have led him or her into medical check-ups. When one experiences some pain, there is an indication that his or her health might be at risk of which one of the risks associated with health is the presence of diseases. There are other diseases where the pain is never present until when the disease is beyond a salvaging situation, even if the medical intervention was carried, for instance, the presence of ovarian cancer.

It is however clear that the disease amount in a person in many cases does not have a linear relationship in pain amount. Another relationship based on disease and pain is that disease cause is the root source of pain and when there is the surgical removal of a certain disease, the pain is also removed. Pain is said to be a result of degenerative spine disease, thus there is some great relationship between how people view certain diseases thus putting more emphasis on the pain. Some individuals however do not have pain sensational of any disease but that does not mean that there is no pain experienced in such diseases. It is important first to consider the pain behavior of a person as well as the individual’s feeling to understand how much the individual pain might have moved from the position of disease mold of pain into illness mode of pain.

Pain prevention and management and health

When one experiences some pain there is already an indication of a negative occurrence in the body which is not pleasant. Pain however presents a positive function as one tries on various ways of managing it. Pain is also presented biologically as a protective system thus promoting the health and the well-being of a person. For instance, when one comes into contact with a hot object, he reacts instantaneously either by moving away from the hot object or moving the part of the body affected. This promotes the health condition through the avoidance of burns. At the same time, carefulness is promoted in such working conditions to avoid any other pain thus promoting the health condition.

In some cases, pain is very important when it is tolerated in the promotion of good health. For instance for mothers in labor find it worthy to tolerate and manage the pain through natural birth that they undergo instead of opting for cesarean which might afterward lead to more health complications. Pain is also viewed as a considerable predictor of a person and doctor’s assessment of the general health rank and the predicted future levels of disabilities.

Pain prevention and management and disease

Pain prevention and management services have a great relationship with disease management. For instance, there are presences of pains that happen to reoccur with inflammation. Such pains need to be managed for example rheumatoid arthritis. The danger is always created when pain is not managed as in some instances it affects the physiologic functioning of a human being. Prevention of pain is that important in disease prevention as it is considered to be more important than other body problems, for instance when compared to physical and some psychological disabilities during the explanation on the medication use.

Pain management such as that of liver disease also helps in the promotion of good health and disease control. It also presents a very significant natural way of healing presumed diseases. For instance, taking into account the acute back pain, the patient should be encouraged to walk to strengthen the backbone even with the experience of the pain as body exercise at this point is very significant. This kind of pain management prevents the occurrences of serious problems which could have occurred afterward if the pain was not managed early enough.

Challenges present in pain prevention and management

Pain management and prevention present a great challenge in the health care unit. Chronic pain however presents a higher challenge as compared to acute pain. Opioids have been known as the most effective and harmless drugs as they are considered to be the safest and readily available drugs. These drugs however carry some risks with them especially when they are used by clinicians who have no adequate experience in the prevention and the management of pain. There is a common belief with many of the physicians who always carry the primary care that people who go through chronic pain do experience depression. This kind of belief has presented difficulties in pain management as a physician may opt to go for treating depression may be by counseling instead of providing the patient with some stronger drugs with the gradual withdrawal of the current medication. In this particular case, the actual pain fails to be managed and thus worsening the condition.

Another challenge present in the management of pain is the differentiation between the cases under treatment and the tolerances. By this, the physicians fail to know whether to give the advanced potency of opioids or to change the type of opioid where they are always left with the trial option. There is always a rapid race present in the primary care unit such that it becomes difficult for the physicians to gather enough information concerning the patient and thus fail to treat the pain as required. This has however resulted in to increase in pain and hence the disease present is not treated or prevented in good time. Pain itself is a challenge such that there are many factors which are involved like the cause of the pain, part of the body location where the pain is, the intensity of the pain, duration of the pain occurrence, and the emotional status of the person undergoing pain.

Physicians are also faced with the challenge of making the people be into definite situations of meeting the treatment objectives. For instance, it is possible for the physicians as a way of managing pain advise someone to the cessation of certain acts like smoking but it becomes hard to make them exercise the act. The patients are not always under the physician’s guard as after the medical check-up if the situation is not out of hand that demands one to be hospitalized, they are released to go home. Therefore it becomes hard to manage the pain thus it also gets difficult to prevent the diseases associated with smoking leading to poor health promotion.

Conclusion

Pain management prevention and management are very significant as it does not only promote disease prevention and good health but also reduce the number of health resources that are used. At the same time, there is also a reduction of family resource expenditures which are likely to be used in disease treatment as there is disease prevention through pain prevention and management. Pain management has further led to people becoming more active in carrying out activities just the way they are used to be in normal situations thus increase in family incomes. It has also promoted the reduction of death cases which happen when the pain is not managed at an early stage and thus the condition goes beyond the salvaging situation. Pain is said to be a universal phenomenon where the general population experiences pain in one way or another in a lifetime. Therefore, there is a need to promote and encourage pain prevention and management to all thus promoting health and disease prevention.

Recommendation

Pain scales should be well established which should promote and guide the caregivers so that they may provide effective pain aid. Opioids are effective drugs that are used for the management of pain where they should be used in postoperative analgesia especially when a major surgery has been carried out in case of regional anesthesia deficiency. A population wellness program should be promoted for pain prevention and management for the promotion of health and disease prevention. People should therefore be provided with education, skills, and ways that they can exercise by themselves for the whole purpose of pain prevention and management. There is a need therefore for the health programs to develop effective services which serve effectively in addressing complex pain cases in the general populations. It is also important to have the full information concerning which medications had been used by a patient to get their effectiveness before prescribing any drug in pain management. At all times pain has to represent two aspects: emotional state and physical state. There can never be just one occurrence, therefore it is important to consider these two aspects when preventing and managing pain.
