Introduction
This is a statement which contains the positive rights whereby the doctors and the hospitals provide the patients and it contains information that the patients are expected to know about the services that are offered like the treatment that they see as fair to the patients and they also grant them autonomy over the medical decisions. The patients are provided with this statement so that they can decide which hospital to go to depending on the terms and services that are provided in that particular hospital.
The statement creates a link between the patients and the doctors where by the patients do not have to ask the services that are provided as they are clear to him or her. It helps the hospital management to save time and be able to offer the best treatment to the patients. This statement should be clear to the patient so that they do not have to waste time arguing with the people concerned. It was first adopted by the American hospital association in 1973 and it was developed so that the hospitals and the health cares should k now the patients rights and have interest to give the best services in ensuring the patients receive the best health care. The patient is provided with rights and responsibilities so that they are not misled by the doctors and thus the health plan should adopt the principles that will enable them to provide the best services to the patients and these principles includes: there is the information disclosure where by the patient has the right to receive accurate information about the services that are provided and also the information should be easily understood so that the doctors do not get hard time in dealing with the patients this is because the doctors should have the feelings that the patients get the information correctly; the patients have the right to choice those providers who are willing and ready to take their problem with a lot of concern so that they get high quality health care so one has the right to choose as there are no restrictions; they should also have access to emergency services where by the patient has the right to get these services when the need arises and thus the health plans should ensure that the best services are provided to people and the payment for the services should be reasonable this is because not all people are able to pay if the charges are high.
If one requires emergency treatment and the person who is to provide this service is slow and lacks enough training then this might lead to the loss of life of such person who could have been helped immediately and every thing be successful therefore one has a right ensure that the person to offer the service is well trained; a patient has the right to participate in treatment decisions this is because they need to receive the best treatment and at a reasonable cost and thus the health plan should ensure that if one is not able to participate in this decision then he or she should have family members who can be able to attend the meeting to receive the best treatment. This is because they agree on the best services to be provided to them and also make changes to the areas that are weak so that they can provide the best services. (Jones, 1998)
The patient requires to be respected and non discrimination this is because if one is not shown respect then conflict may arise because the patient will feel that it is better not to get treatment from such an hospital and thus one will not be willing to ask the doctors the rights that are provided for the patients so that they get the best results. if one is discriminated then he or she feels that the treatment that is provided is not the best and some patients becomes recessive to the instructions they are given by the doctors because they are discriminated and also no respect provided and thus these patients may end up developing complications in the diseases that could have been treated earlier but they do not mind even if they do not get the treatment.
Others switch off from getting treatment in hospitals and use the herbal medicines that do not cure such a disease. Health centers that have respect for every one provides the best services because the patient has the right of making consultations and the doctors are willing to provide the necessary information that one requires.
Without respect then conflict has to exist this is because people will do what ever they think is right only if it is for their satisfaction and thus it will be hard for the patients to receive the right treatment as the doctors will not have time for them. there is also need for confidentiality of health information where by the patient has confidence in making consultations about what I happening in the hospital this enables the patients and the doctors to work in harmony as they know the patients make a follow up of what is happening around the hospital environment. The patients have the right to make appeals and resolve the differences that occur within the health centers.
In every institution people have to differ in different matters were by one has got different views from that of the other person and these differences have to be resolved so that working is not interrupted. Thus in coming into agreement then it means that people will take the best views and leave the rest and thus there should always be the best measures to take so that the problem of disagreement is resolved in the right way. The patients should have the responsibility where by the individuals in the health centers are involved in making sure every one receives his or her care in the best way and thus such people will be willing to keep track of what has to be done so that they get the best treatment. A person been involved in care enables the concerned to feel that the right results have to be received because of this care that is given. (Ranney, 1998)
The patient has the right to know the identity of the nurses, physicians and others who are involved in giving the care this will ensure that the patient knows whether they are well trained to give him or her the right service and also they have the right to know the financial significances of their choice so that they choose the least paying and also the best in giving care. The patient has the right to have an advance directive such as the living will and ensure that it is respected by the hospital as the law permits this will ensure that a patient knows the rights have been followed and given the right care by all.
The patient has the right to decide which institution to get treatments as the health care institutions advice them on their rights under state law and thus the patient will know the best place to get the treatment as it is accepted. In cases where privacy is required like in examination, Consultation, case discussion the patient has the right to demand that his or her information be taken in a private place where no one else will get the information and thus the doctors should ensure that they have the patients information been privately known to him or her and the patient and should not be exposed to the public.
The patient has the right to make a review of his or her medical records and demand that the doctors explain to him or her to understand unless the law does not allow so the patient has to get the clear information concerning these records. (Ranney, 1998)
The patient has the right to get the right services from the hospital in terms of proper evaluation, service or in cases of urgency where by the patient may request to be transferred to another facility due to may be failure of getting the right treatment the hospital management should be willing and ready to offer the best services. The patient has the right to ask if the hospital has a business relationship with other hospitals and also other institutions that can assist in giving the patient care and treatment incases of failure.
The patient has the right to fail to accept any research that is required to be carried out and the same patient should be provided with effective health care that will help him or her get the right information concerning the experiment or research that has been carried out. Incase one desires to continue with the care that is given by the hospital then one has the right to get that care at all times in reasonable manner until he or she decides to switch off from that care thus it always the right of that patient to be provided with that care.
The hospital policies and practices should be informed to the patient this is because one should be aware of what he or she is expected to do as long as he or she needs care from that hospital and thus the patient has the right to be informed about these policies and practices in advance and in case of changes the patient should remain informed.
The patients have responsibilities that they are expected to provide as long as they require the right care, the patient is responsible of providing the information about the past illnesses so that the doctor can know how to go about that disease if it is related to the one of the past and thus the doctor has to get the records that he or she kept and from such information one will be able to know the drugs that were given to the patient. Through this the doctor will know whether to change the drugs or not depending on the condition of the patient.
The patient should be willing to get the information or clarification in case where he or she did not understand this will assist the patient in terms of getting treatment and thus no confusion as one will understand fully. People who can afford these drugs feel that they are not expensive as they expect and at the same time others can not afford the same drug at that cost.
Increase in prices of things like medicines affect the policy because it is supposed to cater for the health of the people in all races and color and therefore they are forced to provide the services of low standard this is because the prices are high for them to afford to provide the services effectively. The health care has to ensure that the drugs are provided at reasonable costs so that they can be able to afford at that cost.
Due to the raise in the costs of medicines then this has led to few companies been able to afford to make them this is because they have raised even the prices of the materials that are used for making the medicine and thus it becomes hard for the company to afford this medicine. This effect is extended to the users of the medicine where by they have to be costly and thus depending on the income level of that person then it becomes hard to consume that medicine. This has led to the effect in the economy in that country this is because the companies decline means that the country has to seek assistance from other countries because the economy of that country continues to decline. People loss jobs and lives due to lack of proper health care and also because they are forced to switch off to other medicines that may bring more problems to the people. The technology that is required in producing that product may also not be easily available this is because as the disease increase then more techniques are been invented so that the production can be raised and therefore not all people can install the new technology due to its high cost then it means that the product will not be available to the people if the product has to be made using this new technique.
The changes that take place in the world in every day has a high impact to the nation and the people because they have to change according to how the world is changing so that they get the right information and be more effective in the things that they produce and the people also benefit from these changes. Technology change affects the working of the people in a company because if a company installs a technology that will affect the people working in it then it means that many will loss jobs as they have to be skilled enough to be able to work in that place.
The people have to find other ways of getting the medicines as they are scarce due to the collapse of most of the effective companies. In the raise of private companies then they make the drugs at a high cost that can not be afforded by the small scale companies therefore it means that people continue to loss. This problem of raising prices affects the people and the nation as a whole and thus the rich feels that is the right cost for the medicine. Poor people will not have otherwise if the costs go high because they can not be able to afford so they decide to make their own that are not of that cost and can be afforded by all in the society.
Many of the diseases that affect people requires proper treatment and thus it is obvious if the disease increase then the costs for the medicines of such disease are raised. The companies benefit at the expense of people loosing as the disease may affect the poor so it means that the rich will be able to afford it. A problem arises in that people seem to discriminate the affected for example if it is an infectious disease then the affected will not have people to associate with. This problem will affect the person physically and mentally and thus the person becomes recessive and does not like to be advised and getting treatment to such a person is not easy because he or she will isolate from the others. People should have a concern to others who are affected so that they do not feel that they are not important to the society and thus the right care need to be taken to such person. The community and the nation should put efforts in ensuring that people who are affected are provided with the right health care so that they get cured. The society will create groups according to the status of the people in terms of health and these groups leads to conflict because every one wants to do what he or she feels is of benefit and thus the loss in terms of making developments.
The government gets the problem of losing the most productive people through diseases and therefore it has to spend more in bringing good health to them. Due to lack of enough funds then the government will have a high dependency level because the heaths of people will be affected. People requires good health care to work and therefore due to poor provision of these drugs then people have to get assistance even if it means moving to other countries the problem of the government will be it will have to find ways of making things work as they are expected and this will only be achieved through getting aids and grants from other countries.
Due to decline of companies the economy of the government will be affected and this is because it will not have enough money to finance for its population and therefore it will have to be dependent on others. This depending on other countries leads to the country getting problems of having to seek permission from them because it waits to be assisted and thus the country has nothing it can do. The problems drag the nation on its function in providing the people with the right health care this is because the government will be concerned with making things work in the right way and not people’s health.
The problem occurs in the government where by the economy of the nation has to be affected as such people are not able to get enough money to be able to get the drugs. The prices of the drugs have to raise and therefore high prices means that they have to get more money in producing that drug that is important to the people at all levels. The nation has to get assistance from other countries the markets in that country are also affected because the product is not available in the market and thus the sales that were made from this product are no longer in existence. The policy is developed so that people receive information of their rights and the responsibilities so that they can economically and socially fit in the country. Without the know how of the rights then people can end up to be exploited that is mostly in the hospitals as the doctors will not have time for the patients and thus the nation will end up loosing as they have no rights for the patients. Human rights have to be taken with a lot of concern so that people know what is expected of them and produce more for the betterment of the nation. This is because if one knows his or her rights and knows they are respected then it will be easier for that person to do all the best to make sure the nation experiences growth and development this can be done through invention and been ready to work under all circumstances.
The policy has been effective in ensuring the people know their rights so that they can be able to work without problems and thus through their work they can be able to solve most of the problems that exist in the country. people with their rights been followed then they are sure that they will get the best care from the institutions that are concerned and thus such a person will work out to make sure they get the best results.
