Conducting Project Plan from the Perspective of a Project manager
Project management is the process of planning and organizing resources available to managers in order to foresee a triumphant completion of particular projects (Business dictionary, 2011). A project is an endeavor taking a short period of time with a definite beginning and ending. It is usually conducted in order to accomplish specific goals aimed at improving the performance of a company.
A project manager is involved in coordinating a project plan from the start till the end. Normally, there are resources to be mobilized and overseeing the whole project.
The implication of conducting a project plan from the perspective of a project manager is that everything has to be coordinated and resources mobilized to ensure that the project does not fail. A manager is mandated to fully use all mechanisms at his disposal hence the importance of conducting the project plan from the perspective of a project manager.
Identified Weaknesses of the Project Plan
In carrying out a project plan, weaknesses are inevitable and unless the parties involved are determined to see a successful completion of the project, failure might be imminent. One of the biggest challenges of the project that has been identified is the difficulty of achieving all the goals that the project intends to achieve without deviating from the constraints of the project that have been preconceived.
Another challenge that has presented itself during the project plan is optimizing the distribution of the inputs that are crucial in meeting the defined goals of the project plan.
However, a project manager can solve these problems by looking at past project plans that he completed or were completed by other managers within the same company. By doing so, a manager is in a position of gathering a wealth of information that will be useful during the processes of project planning
Former projects portray a history of how an organization has been undertaking its project plans. A manager can look at the projects that have been approved and the successes as well as analyzing projects that were not approved and reasons behind their declined of approval.
For instance, reviewing past project plans may provide the reasons that led to their disapproval. It also identifies plans that could be successful but the managers failed to come up with appropriate project plans .
Identified Strengths
There are a number of strengths of the project plan that have been identified so far. It is only the strengths of a project plan that will allow it to succeed and produce the desired results. The first strength of the project plan that has been identified so far is the cooperation of those who are involved in the project plan development.
Cooperation and support from other people involved puts the manager in a position where he can oversee project plan development effectively. The second strength of the project plan that has been identified is the willingness of the entire company administration to support the project plan development.
Unless there is full support from the company managerial departments to make the project plan a success, it might be impossible to succeed. This is because some stages of the project plan development require funding which has to be approved and supported by the company management.
Specific Team Member Behaviors
Team work in a company is an important aspect that leads to success in the performance of its activities. For team work to be existent there must be specific team behaviors that characterize members of the teams. This is because unless the team members are disciplined and possess behaviors that are attributed with success, the development of the project plan will not be possible.
This makes it possible for the team to manage the expansion ambitions of Beijing EAPS Consulting Inc and the problems facing the company. The first specific behavior characteristic of the team is team member communication. This involves establishing and maintaining clear communication strategies among the team members.
With effective communication, all members will value the input of fellow members and improve their performance. This will also help in creating respect among the team embers because it is only members who have respect for each other who will be in a position of cooperating to give valid contribution.
The second essential team behavior is team problem solving and decision making. The ability for team members to solve their problems and conflicts arising from their discussions is a valuable asset to the team. It is natural for people to differ and present differing opinions but this should not be a point of conflict.
Team members should also be able to make informed decisions that will have a positive influence on the running of the company as it endeavors to expand its services while dealing with the problems.
The third important team behavior is seeing other team members as coworkers. This will make sure that all team members value their colleagues and respect them. The result is that the performance of the company will be improved because the members value one another.
Safeguards
For the project plan to be completed in time without any delays, there are some safeguards that must be put in place. These safeguards will function as a control platform to direct the project plan. The first safeguard that I will use to ensure that the project plan is completed in time is to create an action plan.
This will ensure that I have a good plan of what I am supposed to do to avoid the likelihood of missing out on some of the most important things to be done during the development. The second safeguard that I will develop is a time schedule of how different stages in the development of the project plan will be executed. This will ensure that the project does not lag behind because there is no proper time management.
