Critique

In the computer age, cutting-edge technologies are dominating the work places, but to get more productivity from the workers the heads of the organization must look after the personal communication technology, which will ultimately lead to better productivity. According to Bandura, the six most important incentives for human behavior are activity, social, novel sensory, monetary, and self-reactive, and status. These provide psychological rewards as a person behaves in a certain way at a certain time. Boredom in any workplace is a common factor and it costs both the employee and the employer. Stimulating activities in the workplace sometimes excite the employees and they can work better (Eastin, Glynn, and Griffith, 2007).

Researchers have found a relationship between work-related stress on a person and subsequently his or her absence from work. More recently researchers have discovered that stress can change the use of technology in the workplace in a specific way. Using the internet allows the employees an emotional escape from the boredom of regular work. Sometimes the internet addictions can term as behavioral responses. There are some other problems. In recent times, hacking and phishing are increasing at an alarming rate.

It can happen that an employee can unknowingly download an attachment from his mail, which may contain a worm that can attack the whole network of the organization and surely crush the whole system too. Sometimes, these addictions can be rewarding and the problems begin at a point when it becomes excessive. Communication technological patterns can be methodically studied inside an organizational context. And there are different methods to study the behavior too.

There are many scopes of improvements in this aspect too. Psychological monitoring of the perceptions of people with the help of information technology will be one of the most important aspects of study in the future. The use of technology can enhance productivity in these cases too. For an organization, the use of technology for social networking, or other leisure purposes can really affect the productivity of an organization so they must limit the activities. Though here we have only discussed the aspects in reference to an organization this can be applied to educational institutes, in various other settings, and even at home.

Conclusion

Human psychology is one of the most complex aspects of research and there are many branches of research in this field too. There is a general concept that the employees in an organization misuse the technology in certain ways like they visit chat rooms on the web, send personal e-mails, sometimes play online games, while they are doing their work, and all of these things are nothing related to their works. The writers tried to discuss the factors that motivate a person to do this kind of action and also tried to find a systematic approach to assess how an employee’s state of mind affects the employee to take the non-work-related matters in the workplace.

There are a number of aspects for any individual to use communication technologies in the workplace and one of the most important reasons is the mental boredom of the employees and the sheer work pressure. The organization, to yield best results from their employees has to think about lessening the boredom from the work-place, and also can have something stimulating in the office for the fun and enjoyment of the workers. The systematic study will be beneficial for both the managers and the workers.
