Introduction
It is necessary to point out that pure Thanatos or pure Eros can hardly be found in the world. However, when considering sex, this phenomenon relates more to Thanatos. Thanatos has a number of characteristics that are applicable to sex as people see it (at least, in the contemporary western world). In the first place, Thanatos is something related to the body and needs of people’s bodies. Sex is one of the basic needs of a human body.
Main Body
Apart from this, Thanatos is also related to the sphere of animal. People tend to associate sex with something animalistic compared to feelings and affection which are related to the divine. In the majority of cases, poets do not worship sexual intercourses as people tend to perpetuate feelings and emotions. Such categories as anonymity and specialness also prove that sex is something related to Thanatos. People often have sex with many people, but they wish to live the rest of their lives with only one person. Thus, people perceive sex as something to do with a common act. There is little or no feeling of specialness when it comes to sex.
Conclusion
Finally, people often perceive sex as something quite ambivalent. One should not take pains to have sex with someone. An individual can pay and he/she will have a person who will satisfy these needs. Of course, one needs to be inventive and persistent to win the affection of his/her dream person. On the contrary, people can remain ambivalent and still have sex. This also proves that sex pertains to the terrain of Thanatos. Therefore, it is quite clear that people see sex as something related to Thanatos rather than Eros.
