Working in the healthcare field is associated with a high level of responsibility and carries the ethical value of helping people, which for some professionals is already a reward but not for everyone. At the same time, working in healthcare is associated with high moral and psychological pressure affecting health, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance in it. This can lead to negative consequences, stress, and general dissatisfaction with life. For this reason, it becomes essential to promote the Quadruple Aim.
True collaboration within the inter-professional team is one of the key yet basic aims in accomplishing the Quadruple Aim, along with proper personnel and adequate rest periods. The value of communication for job happiness cannot be overstated. This encourages a happy, healthy work atmosphere and helps to minimize burnout. Various actions meant to increase communication among healthcare facility personnel can have a substantial positive impact (Arnetz et al., 2020). This may encourage teamwork and support while also fostering deeper understanding, which is especially important while working under stress.
The primary impediment to adopting the Quadruple Aim is that the emphasis on personnel comes at the expense of patient requirements, which can be detrimental. Health care is a partnership between those who offer care and those who seek treatment, and it can only thrive if both sides benefit. Staff satisfaction can only be reached through competent management and the availability of a sufficient number of employees.
Taking care of yourself and your colleagues is one of the best ways to achieve the Quadruple Aim that anyone can apply. Paying attention to colleagues who show signs of burnout and providing them with all possible assistance can significantly improve the fourth goal and the quality of patient care. If the nurse is stressed and not strong enough, the quality of support provided to patients may decline. Developing awareness and response to the early signs of burnout, both in oneself and with colleagues, is the key to building effective work in a healthcare facility.
