Reasons Why Aborigines Were Doomed Race in the 19th Century Essay

Introduction

During the eighteenth century, anthropologists and scientists classified the Australian aborigines as a primitive race that was adamant to change. This spread the notion of hatred and segregation across Europe as this community was looked down upon because of its low racial hierarchy. Due to poor government policy, this community was seen as worthless as they could not compete for the scarce resources like their counterparts in Europe and Australia. This notion of inferiority was manifested in the nineteenth century when Europeans wanted to extinct them completely. The common principle that prevailed was that of survival for the fittest.

In many years during the Stone Age period, Australia, New Guinea, and Borneo Island was one country before separation. Aborigine’s community was well known to be all over the country. Due to mass landslides, these three parts were separated leaving Australia to stand on its own hence small number of Aborigines’ communities occupied Australia through the North side of the country.

Aborigines

It was one of the earliest known tribes in Australia believed to have been only humans on that continent and they had cultural behaviors similar to those of African tribes. They are believed to have inhabited Australia some sixty to fifty thousand years ago. These people were hunters and gatherers that was the reason why they were seen as an inferior race because of the low method of food production. They were the darkest people with power over the Australian community before Europeans arrived. It was well known that Australia was larger than today in the earliest days being joined with New Guinea and Java islands. They were more creative and their ancestral technology was highly valued (Attwood 1996, pp. 6 – 26). The Australian aborigines were classified together with the Hottentots found in South Africa. In addition, the government discriminated against this person in the sense that social amenities provided to them were disgusting.

History of Aborigines

Aborigine’s cultural communities were the earliest settlers in Australia before ice landslides and were known for their methodical independence due to their current expertise. They used stars on their way as routing signs and also as a calendar which helped them to decide the best way and time to move the Far East.

Due to aborigines’ low technology, they used available resources to survive through the harsh environment. They engaged in artworks as part of their lifestyle and formed many artworks around the walls of their caves resembling their dressing styles and environmental habits which described their culture as a whole. This depicted their cultural traditions since they were not civilized and did not engage in farming or livestock keeping (Calvert 1990, pp. 29 – 43).

When Europeans arrived in Australia they had an advantage over the Aboriginals ’ community since they had advanced technology. With their advanced technology, it was hard for them to re-colonize this community. They were embarrassed with this community due to their exploitation of the environment and also they saw them as a primitive community. It was not easy to re-colonize them since there were many tribes that existed speaking the aborigine language.

Negotiation was impossible as reported by the local authority to the English superpower. Europeans had to look for other ways on how to exploit and displace this community. They decided to pass deadly diseases to this community. For instance, smallpox was one of them. The diseases killed many aborigines’ people since they had no idea how to cure them. These peoples were isolated but they were still fighting back against the local farmers (Paisley 2000, pp. 82 – 97).

Europeans isolated away this community from the communications since they saw them as racists. Although they were driven away, Europeans experienced many problems due to diverse races, especially children. Many of these children were taken to orphanages’ homes and after a referendum, some of the aborigine’s community took part in elections.

In the nineteenth century, it was well known that all races of aborigines were doomed. The imminence predictions of the current innovators on aborigines were taken for granted and this community was going to be wiped out. A new law concerning how this community would be wiped out before civilization time was formulated. By the late century, the law was published basing on the cultural way of dressing style. They ranged this community as one primitive race and more so poorer. Aborigine communities were unique according to their lifestyle (Dale 2007, pp. 60 – 76). In the nineteenth century, the population of these people was increasing at a high speed so there was a need to control them. More so, the features of half-castes had already entrenched themselves among the whites. They wanted to put to an end the mixture of black and white people. Therefore the only solution was to extinct these races from existence.

Conclusion

All in all, Aborigine communities were the strongest community in Australia before the intervention of the European superpower. It is believed that European interference in Australian affairs caused all these disturbances because they wanted to express their might over a weak community that could not itself. Europeans managed to wipe out a great number of aborigines almost extinction them but they survived the harsh environmental conditions because of their creativity and ability to invent. In addition, the aborigines had a wonderful culture that depicted how they loved nature and their lives. As an outstanding community, they were less concerned with the modern community and therefore engaged more in their artistic artworks and henceforth had cultural musical inheritance in their blood. This boosted their economy as an Australian community due to many monuments and caves present which were constructed by this aborigine’s community.
