Recruitment is a critical process vital for any company’s functioning. For this reason, there are numerous recruitment sources available for managers. Social media is one of the possible ways to find new workers. The major advantage of the source is that numerous people use social media, and the vacancy will be seen by numerous specialists (Noe et al., 2020). Another advantage is that some additional questions might be asked using online platforms (Noe et al., 2020). It makes it attractive for employers and a popular recruitment source.

However, there are also some disadvantages of using this method. First, many qualified specialists still do not have their profiles on social media (Dessler, 2016). It means they can be excluded from the recruitment process. Second, social media might provide false information offered by a potential employer or employee (Noe et al., 2020). These factors should also be considered by managers during the section.

General online job boards and websites can also be viewed as tools for finding new workers. The major strength of this method is the broad pool of applications looking for a vacancy (Dessler, 2016). Thousands of specialists might use this source to find a job. Moreover, online job boards offer a detailed description of all demands of a candidate (Dessler, 2016). It helps to create a clear vision of a future position.

At the same time, several disadvantages should be considered. First, the response time is rather big, meaning that feedback is not as effective as desired (Dowling et al., 2017). Moreover, job boards might attract many employees, meaning recruiters should devote additional resources to analyzing all applications and selecting the best possible application. For this reason, it is critical to consider the advantages and disadvantages of these recruitment resources during the recruitment process.
