Beliefs are the mental conditions that people embrace, either being a suggestion or a fact. Most People are likely to look for reliability in their thinking as well as opinion. Changes experienced by individuals’ way of life, such as religion result in cognitive dissonance due to conflicting beliefs. This is because it becomes difficult for people to accept and fully embrace their new ways of solving issues. Self- identity beliefs are more manifested since they tend to affect the behavior of an individual directly.

Conflicts arise when persons’ expectations are not met. To reduce dissonance, one should consider leaving the situation, minimizing the emphasis put on the matter at hand or thinking of the situation in a more positive approach. Decisions such as purchasing are affected adversely because people hold the belief that the choices they make are the best.

If a purchased item turns out to be faulty, it raises conflicts with the preexisting belief held. Understanding conflicting beliefs is important in decision making and is worth judgment as well as the appraisal. Becoming sensitive of how disagreeing beliefs crash the process decision-making is an enormous means of developing the aptitude to build quicker as well as more correct options.

The status quo may sometimes influence Christianity (my belief system) as it tries to change norms in society and influence people to accept Jesus Christ. Today there is a great deal of negativity that makes people fearful and hopeless with the only hope being the return of Jesus Christ. People believe that they can never do any good and that only the second coming of Jesus can make things right. If you build up a Christian mentality, you do not focus wholly on the sins of mankind and the return of Jesus Christ.

You as well consider the creation in addition to the redemption through Christ. Christianity has had a massive influence on people as by it illiteracy and ignorance have been minimized, which positively influence decision making. It has made more individuals dispel the bodily ailment and deprivation that affected man.

Although everyone makes mistakes, over-reliance on preexisting beliefs makes errors to be more enormous. Some decisions based on Christianity have profound effects on believers’ health (such as those who do not believe in seeking medication), and for this reason, their decisions should be of paramount quality. To avoid biased decisions due to preexisting beliefs, we should be conscious of its limits.

Sadly, most people do not assess their knowledge gaps and may tend to overstate how much they know and their reliance on such information. Mainly, the missionaries inculcated the fear of hell to woe people easily to their belief and imitation of western life.

People changed their religious practices as it was termed demonic, only to find that the new religion was so complicated and led them away from their cultural practices. However, the missionaries supported modern health services, hygiene as well as formal education. Although they brought technological progression, it was to a painful price.

In conclusion, one may tend to ignore any information contrary to their belief information or term is irrelevant. It is important for each person to know the extent to which to rely on their preexisting beliefs while making decisions. Seeking the contributions of other people’s awareness of the weakness makes it more likely that essential information will be gathered before decisions are made.
