Science is a useful field because it helps people build, analyze, and organize knowledge. This knowledge gives people testable ideas and explanations of their world and its universal systems. Human beings use scientific ideas and concepts to explain most of the events taking place in the universe (Johansen, 2009). That being the case, we can use science to understand specific issues such as global warming and climate change much better. The approach will help human beings come up with new strategies to address these issues. I have decided to choose worldwide warming and climate change because these two issues affect the integrity and sustainability of the universe. Posterity depends on the earth’s ability to support life and geochemical processes.

Climate change is responsible for increased global temperatures. Some human activities such as deforestation, emission of greenhouse gases, and pollution are the leading causes of global warming. Greenhouse gases are capable of damaging the “ozone” layer, thus increasing global temperatures (Drake, 2000). This eventually affects the integrity of the universe. I have decided to choose this issue because it might affect the future of the universe.

On one side of the issue, some people argue that climate change is something that has always taken place for many years. Such proponents have gone further to say that the global climate has not been constant and will never be. This explains why such individuals treat the issue of global warming as a myth (Johansen, 2009). On the other side, scholars and scientists have presented a different view on this issue. According to this view, global warming and climate change are critical processes that can only be addressed using scientific knowledge. Science has helped people understand how global warming takes place.

From these two views, I firmly believe that global warming is a scientific fact. The world is currently experiencing unprecedented levels of degradation and deforestation due to increased human activity. Since the 18th century, human beings have been emitting various gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. Scientific inquiry has informed us that such greenhouse gases are capable of warming the universe (Drake, 2000). The next thing is to use “human knowledge” to address global warming as a scientific fact.

Johansen (2009) argues that the continued emission of greenhouse gases increases global temperatures. Human activities affect the integrity of the environment, thus affecting climatic patterns. Different analysts have argued that the universe might become hotter in the next 100 years. It is also agreeable that the world has continued to experience new catastrophes such as tsunamis and typhoons. Such occurrences explain why the issue of climate change calls for scientific intervention. As Drake (2000) argues, the future of the universe will be disastrous unless people take the best countermeasures today.

The above discussion explains why global warming is a scientific fact. Science helps us examine any processes or changes that are taking place in the universe. Scientific knowledge provides new insights into the material universe. Such insights are useful for forming meaningful explanations and opinions about such events or changes (Johansen, 2009). I have used my scientific knowledge to conduct extensive research on this issue of global warming. My little experience helps me treat every universal process as purely scientific. This explains why human beings should come up with the best strategies to address the problem of global warming.
