The modern age is characterized by great tension in international relations. Very often, deterioration of relations is determined by conflicts in some states, which leads to misunderstandings and degradation of relations between countries that support one or the other side of the conflict. Syria can be taken as an example of a state where civil and military conflicts result in a great number of deaths and total devastation of the country.
According to the article Syria After Four Years of Mayhem, more than 200000 people were killed, and almost half of citizens of Syria were forced to leave their homes. With this in mind, it becomes obvious that there is a great need for peace in this region to save people and the state from total annihilation. However, participants of these conflicts are not able to make a compromise by their own forces because of existing cultural and ideological differences. That is why some mediation is needed.
Resting on these facts, it is obvious that all belligerents should make a compromise with the help of some mediator. There are several reasons for this statement. First of all, constant wars and devastation of the land are not acceptable for all participants of these conflicts. Having managed to stop it, they will be able to devote more time to the development of the state and improve existing conditions. Additionally, it is obvious , that economic system of the state is destroyed and there are no huge incomes. Taking into account the fact that money is one of the most important things in modern policy, it is possible to say that solution of the conflict will give a mediator more influence in this region and can become rather beneficial issue.
There are several main belligerents in this conflict. First of all, it is the government of the state which tries to save existing political regime. However, there is a great number of armed forces which consist mainly of Islamists, who are not satisfied with current state of affairs and want to replace the government. However, there is also the third force represented by Kurds, who have created their small state on the territory of Syria and tries to protect it.
The situation is also complicated by the interference of terrorists from the organization known as Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant. However, there are also some other states which are involved in the conflict as they support belligerents. The government and president Bashar al-Asad are supported by Russia, while Europe and the USA render their assistance to Kurds. With this in mind, it is possible to say that the conflict is very tensed as a great number of countries are involved in it.
Besides, ethnic and religious issues served as one of the main reasons of this conflict, as there are representatives of different cultures who live on these lands. With this in mind, every side of the conflict has its own demands connected with improvement of the life of people who supports it.
Having analyzed the situation, it becomes obvious that it cannot be solved by the forces of belligerents and that is why some mediation is needed. Being representatives of opposite blocks, the USA and Russia should become the main guarantors of the success of negotiations between all participants of the conflict. Only under these conditions some progress is possible.
