Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a virtual event for representatives of the medical field, CANP Lobby Day 2022. Topics such as the future of nurse practitioners’ work and possible problems that they may encounter during their parking were discussed there. At the same time, the most valuable aspect was the discussion of assembly bills, which contributed to the deepening of the study of issues in relation to the work of these healthcare workers. Therefore, the following will be a discussion of the problems that I consider the most important and how bills will help solve them.
The first problem that a nurse practitioner may face in their practice is a violation of the confidentiality of patient information. Bill AB 825 expands the understanding of personal information and now puts aspects such as genetic data into this concept (Lazzarotti et al., 2021). This aspect may affect my practice as a family nurse practitioner, as information leakage may occur if the customer data is stored incorrectly. The next problem for nurse practitioners is the issue of abortion. Bill AB 1666 and SB 1375 address this problem and notes that the right to decide and be responsible for their reproductive system (“AB-1666 Abortion: civil actions”, 2022). The last aspect that needs to be considered is the insufficient level of awareness and knowledge. AB 1918 emphasizes the importance of “health care workforce training programs and health professions education programs” (“AB-1918 California Reproductive Health Service Corps”, 2022, para. 1). These aspects can significantly affect the quality of services provided if not implemented correctly and can affect my practice by lowering the quality of health of people.
This scientific paper provided a short overview of how the CAMP Lobby Day 2022 event provided crucial information about the implemented bills and errors connected with the practice of a nurse practitioner. Thus, in order to limit the violation of confidentiality, it is possible to develop and study trends in personal information and create ways to protect the younger generation. Other problems were the lack of proper qualifications and one of the most widely discussed topics. Hence, the study of the data aspect is valuable, as it is a good source of information.
