Identified Dental Public Health Project

Medical and health initiatives have always focused on different problems affecting humanity such as oral diseases. The issue of dental health has become common in the recent past. Dental health services are usually aimed at preventing and treating various diseases in adults. However, the question of child dental health has been ignored for decades. The Children’s Dental Health Project was therefore initiated in order “to address a public health issue that affects many American children” (Children’s Dental Health Project, 2016, para. 2).

Description of the Project

The Children’s Dental Health Project is a web-based profile for many children and their parents in the United States (Children’s Dental Health Project, 2016). The purpose of the project is to monitor the dental health developments recorded in different states. The online platform offers meaningful snapshots that can be used by parents and policymakers to promote the dental health outcome of every child. The project also seeks to inform more people about the magnitude of children’s dental health. Experts believe strongly that the success of this project will support the oral health needs of every American child.

Various Health Policies and their Impacts

The American healthcare system is defined by a number of policies. Such policies promote the best approaches, practices, and strategies that have the potential to improve the health outcomes of many citizens. To begin with, the Healthy People 2020 is a powerful policy that can have significant implications on this project. This is the case because the program outlines the best practices and actions that have the potential to support more people in the country. That being the case, pioneers of the project can use this policy to promote the best dental health practices (Bright, Alford, Hinojosa, Knapp, & Fernandez-Baca, 2015). Such practices will eventually support the dental needs of many children in the US.

Different states have their respective children’s health policies (Bright et al., 2015). Such policies have been put in place to address the health expectations of many children. These policies will outline new issues that can be considered in an attempt to improve the dental outcomes of many individuals (Longest, 2010). More children will benefit from such practices and eventually have good dental health. That being the case, states should use this project in order to achieve their targeted goals.

Children’s Health Insurance (CHI) policies embrace “the best strategies and practices that have the potential to safeguard the health needs of many kids in the US” (Bright et al., 2015, p. 194). These policies can be used to secure appropriate dental insurance covers for more children. This move will ensure every person has good dental health. The country’s Medicare and Medicaid programs should also be redesigned in order to support the dental health needs of more children. Different policies on diet will also support the success of this program. Every child should be educated and informed about the dangers of different diets. Such policies will encourage parents to monitor the foods consumed by their children. The important goal is to improve the dental health needs of more children.

The Future of the Project

This project will get enough support from different players and stakeholders. This is the case because the project has the potential to improve the dental health outcomes of individuals in different states (Children’s Dental Health Project, 2016). The government and policymakers will have to outline new efforts that will empower more children. This project should therefore be supported in order to address this public health concern.
