The Journal’s Current Publisher and Its Historical Origins
The public is offered many scientific journals on various topics in today’s world. In this paper, I would like to look at a journal called Communication Quarterly, which Routledge currently publishes on behalf of the Eastern Communication Association. Routledge is also known for publishing a variety of journalistic and scholarly books. Communication Quarterly is currently published only five times a year but contains a wealth of unique information. It was first published in 1953 under the title “Today’s Speech. The magazine’s purpose was to educate the public on communication (Taylor & Francis Online). In addition, the magazine is a verified source of knowledge for scholars and educators.
The Current Focus of the Journal’s Contents
Currently, the magazine focuses on covering communications in the context of current world events. Articles are regularly published with a significant topical headline that sets the tone for the narrative. The magazine focuses not only on the educational part but also on the actualization of world events. In it, one finds an analysis of communication techniques and an overview of the latest world events. The coverage of communication in this context makes the magazine’s content genuinely unique. Many news publications provide an overview of events, but none of them focus on communication the way Communication Quarterly does. In addition to news, the magazine also covers a lot about scientific methods and research. For example, one of Communication Quarterly’s most cited issues is about qualitative research (Taylor & Francis Online). The magazine also covers current social topics that make up the world’s communication agenda. For instance, issue 37 had an article discussing communication on Tinder, a dating platform (Taylor & Francis Online).
Thus, it is clear that the journal does not focus solely on communication or the science of communication. It does not focus exclusively on the scientific view of communication and does not overload the reader with terminology. While initially emphasizing the scientific nature of the publication, the authors do not forget to add a journalistic touch to the articles. Therefore, it is a comprehensive publication covering relevant topics in the context of social interaction. The journal is both a good source of academic knowledge and an exciting repository of fresh perspectives on world events.
The Significance of the Journal for the Different Areas
Different people read Communication Quarterly magazine for different purposes. It can be a basic or core part of rhetoric, but this journal has its significance for both. For the rhetoric core, which can also be called the rhetoric Ph.D. core, the journal is essential directly for its scholarly articles. It has many different teaching and factual articles that will help the reader deepen their knowledge of the field. For example, in issue 51, which appeared in 2003, there is an article entitled “The Cornell School of Rhetoric: Idiom and institution.” This article is about a particular school of rhetoric and its rules (Taylor & Francis Online). For a rhetoric Ph.D. core, such an article can be a great addition to the basic knowledge. As for the area for which the journal is being read, the importance of the publication is to provide unique content.
This journal is read for many different purposes, both academics and laypeople. Accordingly, the importance lies in providing all of them with the information they need in the field of communication and current events. As an example of this thesis, this journal has different articles. For example, in issue 5, volume 69, published in November 2021, there is an article on the MeToo movement in social media in various countries (Taylor & Francis Online). This article will be significant for those who read the magazine to deepen their knowledge of communication and keep up with current events. Thus, the journal has its importance for all purposes of reading it and the rhetoric Ph.D. core.
