Introduction

In the first paragraph, the author of the memo clearly indentifies the source of his information together with the author of the article. The memo also gives a general information about the issues highlighted in the in the article. From the memo, it is clear that the article does not limit its information to the hospitality and the tourist industries but deals with human resource cross all industries.

Strengths of the memo

The author of the memo quotes directly from the article the responsibilities of both the human resource and IT systems in an industry. This helps us to indentify the real information contained in the article. The memo then discusses on these advantages and disadvantages without indicating whether they are directly from the article or they are the author’s own insight. On my own opinion, it would be better if the author of the memo indicated which information ids directly derived from the article and then give his own insight. This would help us in providing a critique to the information contained in the memo.

In the memo, the author indicates that African Americans and Native Americans are at a disadvantage in regard to internet access. However, the memo fails to explain why the above mentioned category of people would not freely access the internet. The author of the memo indicates the potential of poorly designed websites in damaging an organization’s reputation which is supported by the author’s own experience. Although the author provides a practical example in his explanation, I believe it would have been better of he provided a solution to this problem.

Weakness of the memo

The author of the memo contradicts himself when he indicates that technology based selection eliminates the adverse impact of minority-majority discrimination. Initially, the author had indentified communities such as African Americans and Native Americans to be disadvantaged in accessing the internet. This would mean that this category of people will not submit their applications to the selecting authority for considerations.
