It assists the management in having easy managerial activities within any institution. It may be referred to as programs within an institution that are established to ensure its employees’ well-being. It may be physical, Psychological, or emotional. Unfortunately, many businesses lack an effective employee assistance program, not knowing that it may help them recognize drug and substance abuse among their employees (Owens & Nuttgens, 2021). Its merits may come in various forms, either directly or indirectly. Therefore, the program has a meaningful impact on the management and ability to recognize drug and substance abuse among workers in the workplace.

Design of Drug and Alcohol Policies

In an institution whereby the management has identified that some of its employees are addicts, the administration will be able to put all responsible measures. These measures may be in the form of the ethical conduct of professionalism within that institution. Moreover, this will also ensure that the business institution involved has policies. This may be seen when they decide to test their employees on certain drugs (Owens & Nuttgens, 2021). For instance, a locomotive transit company may choose to test the level of alcoholism level to its drivers. This will be a result of ensuring that there is dignity and safety among themselves. It may act as a barrier towards them getting losses in the form of accidents.

Assessment and Response to Problems

In this situation, the management can know how to respond to matters caused by drug and substance addicts. For instance, the employee assessment program will help in drug use determination, and after assessment, they can grant further referrals to experts in solving such problems. They can also help in situations where further treatment is required in evaluating the response rate of the addict to the treatment plan.

Hazards Detection

The employee assessment program also trains the management on matters of their security. This will help them to know the techniques to use in situations where an employee addicted to drugs and substances is impaired (Rafiemaneset al., 2020). Hazard detections aids in ensuring safety of drug-affected employees as they undergo the recovery process. Therefore, the assessment program will help in identifying possible hazards and prevent them before they occur.

Duty Allocation

After the management has undertaken its employee Assessment program, they can know the suitable person for a specific duty. This will ensure that the management recognizes individuals addicted to drug and substance abuse (Owens & Nuttgens, 2021). Therefore the management will know the right person to allocate a specific task to due to their psychological capacity. This act will ensure that the security of the employees working will be safe.

Confidentiality

The employee assessment programs shall help the management to keep information secretive. This means that the management will be able to know the problems of each drug and substance-addicted employee. After knowing this, the employee will be further advised independently without making it public (Rafiemaneset al., 2020). Confidentiality in the employee assessment program will assist the management by keeping the information of an individual. Therefore, this technique shall have assisted the management in recognizing drug abuse and the appropriate measures that will help in safeguarding sensitive information of workers. Maintaining workers’ secrecy aids in avoiding victimization from other employees, hence reducing their work morale. In a nutshell, employee assessment programs adversely affect the management of ways to reorganize drugs and substances in workplaces. Therefore its assistance may be directly or indirectly (Rafiemaneset al., 2020). For instance, when employee assessment programs are available, the management can reorganize workplace drug and substance use.
