Introduction
Conflict can be defined as disagreements between people or groups. Conflicts can also be seen as healthy since sometimes is through conflicts that people can be transformed. Hence as a result, when conflicts arise there is a need to solve these conflicts. Conflicts can be of different forms like they can be political, religious, economical, or even social conflicts. For instance, Conflicts can be political in the sense that differences may arise in the way people get power, leadership styles, and hence as a result, you find that this can lead to political problems for the citizens of that country.
In order to end these conflicts, there is then a need for conflict resolution like the United Nations peacekeeping missions. It’s through the United Nations peace-keeping missions than during the Second World War, it was through it that the war was in a position to end. So when these conflicts arise, there is a need to resolve them by the correct methods like religious leaders can be of help when such conflicts arise.
Many historians would like to question those people who lived in epochal historical events. In order for one to deal successfully with the relatively recent past, it was actually possible to do so by a certain technique called oral history. It was through history that people could be interviewed by use of certain techniques which included things like interviewing people about their own lives and various events which actually occurred at that particular time which they actually observed and participated in and this was very much vital since people were in a position to understand the past events through those interviews.
People were in a position to understand things like the spirit of the age and this was only possible through those people who lived in that age. It also bridged the gap between impersonal forces and the personal and individual responses to them. It is actually known that oral history can sometimes be fascinating and sometimes so challenging. There is also the problem of the interviewee misleading the interviewer in the sense that he might stray from the subject in question and hence as a result he may lead to a wrong understanding of that event or subject. Also, you find that most of the interviewee like telling only the positive side of the story and fails to say the negative part of it and hence, as a result, you may find that this may lead to wrong interpretation of the whole story since the wrong information was actually given.
Also, others may actually forget the whole story the whole event of what actually happened, and may actually say what they normally watch on televisions or even read in books, and hence as a result, you find that the oral history may not be convenient. (Crocker, Fen, and Pamela 2001).
History of Klan
It was after the end of the war that actually marked the beginning of a terrible for the white citizens who remained loyal to the southern states although large potions of the south were untouched by military action during the war. During the war, many homes were burned and many citizens were left homeless and farms were also burned, and hence as a result, this led to the fall of that economy. It was actually due to this fall that a group of decent men came and formed the Ku Klux Klan which was actually led by Nathan Bedford Forrest in Tennessee. It was actually the Ku Klux Klan that fled the troops to the north.
The Ku Klux Klan over a period of ten years-long histories of violence grew out of the resentment and hatred many white southerners left in the aftermath of the civil war where blacks had not won freedom. (Cousens and Chetan 2001).
Conflict and compromise in history
It is understood that the theme of conflict and compromise in history is a bit complex to understand. It then requires that students should view history through multiple perspectives. You find that in history, some of the conflicts actually existed and there was no compromise for the conflict which actually occurred. Also, you find that in some other conflicts, there was a compromise that was actually come upon before that type of conflict became serious so you find that people had to solve the conflict before it actually spread to the whole society.
Some of the events in history reflect conflict and compromise. In order for one to actually understand conflict and compromise, one needs to actually ask questions like questions of place, time, change over time, impact and significance, and cause and effects of that conflict. Should also ask themselves why actually some events happened and when did they actually happen. Should question themselves the various factors which lead to the conflict to happen and in the end, the impact the conflict has on the community that lived when that conflict actually happened and to the whole nation at large. for instance for the case of the second world war which actually led to some people being homeless and the compromise which was come across in order for the war to end.
For instance, the FDRs actually led to lend-lease policies which acted as a compromise to end the Second World War. Also during the suffering Africans suffered while they were abroad since they actually suffered segregation and discrimination by the Whites and hence need to understand how these African American troops compromised in order to end the segregation and the discrimination which they actually faced. The efforts at conflict resolution and the promotion of peace led to the end of these conflicts. You find that these people promoted peace all over the country and this actually led to the end of these conflicts.
The United Nations was created and it’s through their creation which actually led to the end of the war. Also, the United Nations peacekeeping missions successfully led to the end of the Second World War. It was through the United Nations peace-keeping missions in which most of the people who were there during that time were enlightened on promoting peace instead of conflicts between each other. Also in the Middle East, there were problems of resolution of disputes and hence it was by the help of the United Nations peacekeeping missions which actually led to the resolutions of these disputes in the Middle East. (Burton and Frank 2001).
Religion is also another factor that has actually led to the resolution of conflicts. For instance during the problems of resolution of disputes in the middle east it was also due to the work of various religions which actually led to the resolution of these conflicts. It’s through religion that people are advised to maintain peace and calm since it’s what actually God requires from each one of us. So due to the fear of God, you find that most of the disputes were in a position to stop since people fear been punished by God.
You also find that most of the conflicts occur between religions and there was a need to compromise them. Due to the people’s different faiths, you find that some tend to see others as week in their religion and this may lead to people conflicting and hence as a result, there is a need to solve these conflicts by the regions involved. Most of the conflicts are a result of understanding the religious doctrines, scientific and secular ideas. Most of the denominations have differences in how they interpret the bible and hence as a result you find that there may arise conflicts in these areas. There was also a big conflict in the separation of the Protestants and the Catholics.
There was originally one denomination but due to the differences occurring, the protestants defected and formed their own denomination Economics is also another factor that actually led to the end of these conflicts in the sense that people were in a position to get land in different areas and hence as a result, people were in a position to move to different areas and hence ending the rising conflicts. Due to the rising economy and the changes in the economy, you find that it may lead to conflicts due to people owning these resources. You find that most of the people would wish to stay in the fertile lands while others would like to own most of the share in the economy and hence as a result, you find that conflicts arise in the distribution of these resources and need to compromise this in order to end these conflicts.
There was also a conflict by the Greek city-states to the growing trade empire of Athens and also the conflicts over Mediterranean trade routes that actually led to some nations to actually seek alternative passage to the Indies. In the late 19th century, there was also a conflict between the workers and the employers over the wages and working conditions. This conflict was between the western and the eastern farmers of the railroad companies. There was also a need for compromise over this conflict and this actually led the religions to intervene in order to end these rising conflicts.
There were also Conflicts that led to incorporating the bill of rights, conflicts, and compromises over constitutional guarantees of civil liberties during wartime. (Brown, 2001).
Conclusion
You find that most of the early events could be understood through history. It was through interviewing people that one was in a position to understand history. Most of these conflicts are sometimes history to most of us due to the various measures taken in order to end these conflicts like the peacekeeping missions by the United Nations. Conflicts have occurred since time immemorial. It was then due to the rising conflicts that there was a need for compromise in order to end these rising conflicts.
For instance during the problems of resolution of disputes in the middle east it was also due to the work of various religions which actually led to the resolution of these conflicts.
