Today, the topic of the wall between the United States of America and Mexico is relevant more than ever. Donald Trump is going to build a barrier along the border of two countries. The building of the wall has already been detrimental to the nature of surrounding territories and killed people, therefore the citizens of the United States of America, Mexico, and people all over the world must not let current governments continue the construction of the barrier.

Whether a Barrier is Going to Help

Donald Trump, as well as the supporters of the wall, firmly believe in its need. They assure that barrier is going to put an end to illegal border crossings and drug smuggling from Mexico to the US, but is it? The evidence shows that, in fact, despite the already existent sections of the wall, illegal immigrants do not stop trying to cross the border. But instead, they search for new ways to pass it. The ways which very often turn out to be very dangerous and completely unknown. These people end up in deserts of Arizona. Roaming the desert, they die of thirst and heat. Even though search parties are always working on these territories, a lot of illegal immigrants are not being found (Jones, 2016). Thus, the barrier helps to decrease the number of illegal immigrants, “decreasing” the number of people literally.

The Impact of the Barrier on Nature

One more issue that is caused by the wall is enormous harm to the nature of surrounding areas. In fact, the “wall” is not just a long fence. It is a complex construction which involves a lot of human activities. To make the building of the barrier convenient and easy, people destroy the nature in their path. For example, to build the roads intended to deliver a building equipment, people kill the plants that are interfering them. Conditions created by the construction are catastrophic for the animals as well. Not only physical barriers violate their normal routine. The presence of a human in places where animals do not expect them is another barrier for animals’ normal life (Smith, 2016).

Far worse than anything is that the barrier crosses the normal mammal migration path between South and North America. Because of that, a lot of animal species are critically endangered. Now they cannot mate with another specimen because there is just no way to get to them. History shows that it may lead to serious consequences. Throughout the ages, great populations of animals disappeared because of the human-made barriers. The wall makes animals isolated and unable to exchange the necessary genetic material. This causes the deceases and extinction (Gaskill, 2016).

People have to understand that the future of plants, animals and the planet Earth is in their hands. Today, the members of humankind are digging graves for themselves and their descendants. To prevent the building of the wall, those who care for nature should spread the information on the influence the barrier has on nature, and protest against its building. People have to come together and protect the planet. When everyone realizes it, the world will live as one.

Conclusion

The building of the wall has already been detrimental to the nature of surrounding territories, and killed people, therefore the citizens of the United States of America and Mexico, and people all over the world must not let current governments continue the construction of the barrier. To prevent the catastrophe, people have to understand the consequences the wall may have on nature. Those who already understands it should spread the information and arguments against the barrier.
