Introduction

The World Bank Group is one of the crucial financial institutions that aim at providing developing countries with technical and financial help. This organization sets several goals and develops the projects using which it is possible to fight poverty, create appropriate environmental conditions, and inspire people in need (The World Bank Group 2011). The World Bank offers low-interest loans and different grants to improve the spheres of education, health, environment, etc. Many projects have been already successfully implement and supported by the World Bank Group. The development of this organization is evident, and it is expected that many countries want to cooperate with it under the most favorable conditions. Each day, the Group discusses several projects, and the worth of each project is high indeed.

The National Ganga River Basin Project is one of the latest ideas supported by the World Bank Group. It touches upon the successful water resource management as well as environmental health and pollution management (The World Bank Group: Project and Operations 2011). There are many ways of how human life may be improved, and the citizens of India prove their need for additional financing for their water quality activities. Within the frames set, this project is expected to implement the investments to reduce pollution loans and to create a successful clean-up and conservation program.

Project Description

The National Ganga River Basin Project seeks to introduce a kind of functional capacity at both, central and state level, and to offer the required portion of the support to implement the program. It is very important to conserve and clean the Ganga River because Indian society needs appropriate living conditions, cooperation with trusted shareholders, and technical development that corresponds to the world’s level.

Main Characteristics of the Project

The World Bank Group evaluates the demands of the project and sets the dates: the approval date was May 31, 2011, and the closing date will be December 31, 2019. The total project cost that comes from the World Bank Group and other invited non-bank sources is $1556 million (The World Bank Group: Project and Operations 2011).
