Introduction

Motivation is one of the key aspects of learning as it determines the student’s desire to participate in the process. Additionally, the motive creates interest in the course or a specific subject a student is studying. Educators should be thoughtful and purposeful in creating learning objectives that promote lower- and higher-level critical thinking skills and in using technology to deliver activities that support these learning objectives.

Discussion

The study of motivation occurs to identify factors that move a person to commit certain actions. Such research is performed through the task of a series of questions and the evaluation of the answers that the respondent poses. The Phonics Mastery Survey is performed to measure the student’s ability to recognize rhyming words, consonant sounds, long vowel sounds, consonant digraphs, and words with consonant-vowel-consonant patterns. Phonics research stops when the child makes ten errors or more.

At the heart of motivation as a way to increase productivity is the psychology of the subject. All psychological theories and methods that underlie the motivation system are aimed at forming the student’s intention to do quality work. The student reviewed in the case study has a strong understanding of the sounds, a high level of interest in studying, listening to the lecturer, and is ready and willing to work in groups. At the same time, the student is barely independent or ready for stressful situations.

The peculiarities of students’ motivation for learning activities can be attributed to the most acute problems. Therefore, the question arises not just about students attending any subject but their interest and involvement in the curriculum of the discipline. When developing a motivation system, it is necessary to analyze all successful practices, taking into account the applicability to a particular area of study. The system for setting key performance indicators will be optimal.

For successful study at a university, a fairly high level of intellectual development, erudition, memory, and the ability to think logically is required. Critical thinking is important according to the Common Core State Standards and means knowing the rules of logic and following those rules. Critical thinking should not be limited to negative judgments and criticism. On the contrary, it involves reasonable reasoning and consideration of a variety of approaches (Shin, 2018). Critical thinking, as a tendency to doubt, is formed in a person as the boundaries of his or her knowledge of the world. “Critical” in this situation is equivalent to “analytical,” aimed at knowledge and analysis. Critical thinking allows a person to analyze the amount of information, select the necessary facts, logically rethink them, and draw conclusions. Being able to think critically is an invaluable skill that students need for a successful professional life.

Emphasis on the stimulating effect of the material being studied should be an important aspect of motivating the student. It is suggested to embed new material into the existing system of knowledge in the current subject studied and other disciplines. This method will demonstrate their relationship and the importance of a separate element in an integral paradigm. It is suggested to focus on the relevance and novelty of the educational material and make a separate emphasis on revealing the practical and scientific significance of knowledge. Additionally, it is required to include the listening, writing, and seeing representation of the material (Vanslambrouck et al., 2018). Moreover, it is necessary to indicate the professional orientation of the educational material to show where and how students will use the acquired knowledge.

The use of different formats of teamwork and student associations of couples, triplets, and mini-groups will ensure teamwork. The motivation program should include tasks for mutual control and assistance of students. Teamwork motivates and inspires the students, which allows them to study with enthusiasm and desire for new knowledge. Further, at least once every six months, the effectiveness of motivation systems should be checked. It is necessary to compare student performance before and after the implementation of the system, using both simple digital methods and software products.

If the motivation system does not show a significant change in student productivity and key indicators of academic success, it is necessary to propose to improve it. The effectiveness check can be expressed in the comparison of the key indicators of the student’s success in the study before and after the implementation of the system, in the questioning of students, and in identifying their degree of internal satisfaction with the proposed measures (Sun & Gao, 2020). Measures to check the effectiveness should be carried out regularly.

Conclusion

In conclusion, motivational mechanisms represent a system of interacting factors, means, structures, relationships, and connections. To ensure the effectiveness of training at a university or school, the features of the construction and organization of the educational process at different stages of education must correspond to the motivational sphere of the student. Increasing the role of motivation in the educational process is necessary, in particular, because it explains the required activity for achieving the result and objective of an action.
