The lyrics of the song “Forever and always” by the Parachute band describes a scenario where a couple of people who love each other face a very huge tragedy. While the woman is sitting at a table waiting for her loved one, she receives a call telling her that the worst has happened.

With an incredible desire to find out what happened, she rushes to the hospital where her partner is. Upon reaching her destination, she finds him lying on a bed. Hoping that he will feel better, the woman finds a chaplain who is supposed to affirm their love. Luckily, the man is able to declare his love for her just a few minutes before closing his eyes forever.

True love according to the lyrics of the song “Forever and always” represents the adage that ‘love conquers everything’. It explains the feelings of affection and attraction that remain between two people after everything else fades. These emotions last in perpetuity, despite one partner dies or moves to a far place.

The first verse of the song clearly demonstrates how the two are committed to and care for each other. It reflects the concern of one partner to another. Equally, it shows how the woman would rather stay at the table waiting for her husband rather than engaging in other activities. The two are supposed to be spending their time together probably enjoying a meal. That is the reason why she stays late, while she has the option of retiring to bed.

Additionally, it is clear that both partners are free with each other and talk quite often. Communication is critical in any relationship and that is the reason why the woman gets worried when the man does not call. Nevertheless, she opts to give him a little more time, constantly looking back to the window.

It is apparent that for all that time she is thinking about him. As true love exists only when both partners care for each other, it is for this reason that the lady is worried when the man does not arrive on time. She keeps listening to the driveway, waiting for any sound that would assure he is on his way home. When the phone rings, she is lastly relieved a bit.

Nevertheless, this also adds to her misery upon being informed that something has happened and she is needed right away. She flashes back from her good time with her lover. She remembers a moment in December when he had proposed to her. The woman recalls the time he knelt down on his knees and uttered the sweet words of assurance that her efforts were not in vain and that he appreciated her love and care. She wondered whether this moment would happen, fulfilling her wishes and dreams.

The chorus shows the magnitude of the feeling between the two. The man’s proposal was simple but firm and deep. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, where every moment would count. This meant the good, the bad, and the trying moments. It also meant growing old together and taking care of each other at an old age.

Love is not always a happy-ending or even an equation, but a place where one enjoys staying. It is a place of fulfillment rather than a necessity, where the heart is quenched its thirst. What the song “Forever and always” tries to convey is that even if death prevents being together alive, the two would still be in love on the other side. So, she remembers that at such a trying moment, she should be with him.

Upon receiving the news, she drives to the place where her husband-to-be is and heads directly to the front desk. Here, she wants to enquire and know why she is called in such a hurry, she wants to understand what is wrong with her fiancé. Instead of explaining, the front desk people lead her to the place where he lies.

The place seems too far, as she walks down the collider, from one hall to another. The love she feels for the fiancé makes the distance too far as her thoughts are preoccupied with him. The receptionists talk to her about what happened but she can barely hear them. She is not interested in that. The woman knows they are walking behind but cannot comprehend what they are saying. All she wants is to be with her love, to know how he feels, to talk to him.

When she reaches the room, at last, she tries to keep his head straight, to concentrate on what is at stake. Finally, there he is, lying on the bed. The woman sits on his bedside and takes his hand tight. All she wants is to be as close to him as possible, to feel him, to talk to him and know all was well.

They both dismiss the discussion of what happened and concentrate on their future together, the kids they want to have, and the good life they want to share. The two talk about their plans, how they will acquire a house on the hills. Putting the bad things aside, all they can see is a bright future. Whether rich or poor, they are still assured of their unending love.

Suddenly, an idea of making their love official comes to her mind. She dashes out and brings up the chaplain who goes ahead to bless them. The chaplain reads a number of verses, which indicates their belief in divine intervention for the prosperity of their union. Her thoughts run quickly of the possible place to find a wedding ring and seek help from a couple who are nearby.

The rings would serve as a symbol of their unending feeling. Borrowing also indicates how fast she wants to be with her love. This emotionally affects people in the room, who start shedding tears of joy. With sincerity in her heart, she looks deep into his eyes and says she wants him forever and ever always. For the woman, it does not matter whether it is a fun or a mourning moment.

As she finishes her vows, the terrible happens. The beeps in the stabilizing machine start getting too slow. His heartbeat weakens and starts to lose out. However, this does not dishearten him from stammering his last words to her. With determination, he says that he will love her forever and always; that even if he is not alive, his love for her will always be there. For the man, love is not a maybe thing, as he truly understands his emotions for her.
