Globally, significant effort has been put into creating vaccines against COVID-19 to decrease the number of deceased and ill individuals around the world. It aims at triggering an immune response from the body to reduce the risks of getting the virus significantly. However, its effectiveness seems unfavorable, and many vaccinated people can still get the disease; hence, the question of voluntary vaccination’s reasonability is posed by both experts and publicity.

The drastically growing statistics of infected people worldwide forced numerous countries to provide the residents with the vaccination from the virus. By February 2021, numerous vaccines had been authorized and implemented in several countries; some are undergoing clinical trials while others are in the pre-clinical stage (Shrotri 590). Prioritization of healthcare personnel is a recurring aspect in COVID-19 vaccine distribution plans to date. I believe it is reasonable for health care workers, including doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, and others, to be prioritized in vaccine allocation since they are at a greater risk of contracting the virus. On the other hand, immunization rates have been low among health care personnel due to the low numbers of vaccinated individuals worldwide. Overall, it seems unreasonable for people to get the vaccination if they will still be in contact with people without immunization doses.

The disparity between desired and actual vaccination rates raises the question of whether voluntary vaccination should be phased out, favoring mandatory immunization. That is why it seems crucial to understand the drawbacks of voluntary vaccination and urgently reach the mandate of the COVID-19 vaccine worldwide. Consequently, the effectiveness of the immunization doses may be significantly enhanced, reducing the number of deceased individuals due to the quickly-spreading virus.
