Introduction
Selecting the report by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prioritized further investigation of the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) National Analysis. In addition, it has become increasingly interesting to interpret the data evaluation patterns in discharges, waste treatment techniques, and pollution avoidance efforts. To reduce harmful emissions, TRI plants conducted 2,779 new source reduction initiatives (Kanashiro, 2020). As a result of recommended waste management techniques such as reuse, the facilities processed 28.3 billion pounds of TRI industrial waste, of which 89% was not emitted (Kanashiro, 2020). Such efforts demonstrated the impactful results achieved by effective waste management techniques.
Discussion
Efforts to develop appropriate waste management strategies continued into the next year. In 2019, 1,325 facilities conducted 3285 new source reduction activities, accounting for 6% of all facilities reported to TRI (Kanashiro, 2020). In addition, facilities provided information on the procedures used to identify source reduction activities (Kanashiro, 2020). Participatory team management was the selected approach for source reduction opportunities that TRI disclosed in 2019 (Kanashiro, 2020). Vendor support and internal pollution prevention audits were reported and provided the status of the procedures.
Later, a significant shift toward the positive impact of green habitats was confirmed. Since 2011, the amount of production-related trash handled has surged by 5.0 billion pounds (22%) due to an increase in reprocessing of 6.6 billion pounds (76%). Most of the work was accomplished in 2019, continuing into 2020 (Kanashiro, 2020).
Conclusion
It is expected that numbers need to be higher every year as the management of waste improves. Still, progress is not yet achieved in increasing the number of new source reduction projects (Gaona, 2018). The social background of the necessity to produce green environments despite industrial labor greatly influences waste management outcomes.
