Introduction

The Canadian women are facing employment equity in which there is a high inequality in workplaces where by the women get low rank jobs as compared to the men. There have been systematic violations of the women rights so that there can be an end to this inequality despite the economic and development benefits of gender equitable in labor policies. The labor markets have denied of women rights and this leads to discrimination in work and the income that is given. The discrimination is seen where by the women are left to carry out the activities of household with the same emphasis based on the responsibility to care for the children. The women economic opportunities are complex and have the relation of political and social forces where the women will be discriminated in work place. There are a number of key trends in which most of them are from Global economy. The women trends will be their increase in participation in work place, the occupational segregation of women and the income gap that exist between the male workers and female workers. (Cornish, 2000)

Main Body

With globalization there has been opportunities opened for women in the industrialized countries, which means that they can improve their position and be able to enter in the new economy sectors of the global labor force. The problem is that the women are not able to reach that type of standard of employment and thus they face the discrimination in the terms of employment standards to have access to which will involve the part time and they get insecure conditions of that given employment. The payment of these women has the treatment which is not better in their posts that is the managerial positions and administrative positions and balance of the female earners is always in the marginal points, with many been unpaid and widening of the feminine sectors in global economy.

There is a clear indication that the women are not given god jobs due to the fact that they are seen to be less productive, un sustainable and insecure and therefore the gap still exist. This will mean that the structure and conditions that are offered for the employment of women and men is very different. There are many risks that are faced by women meaning that production is seen to be poor and there is negative implication in creation of economy. There is increase in women’s participation in informal economy through self-employment; part time and home based low income. There is also increase in women in non- regular employment in the formal economy and many of these women are hired for casual work. The small enterprises are creating jobs for women, which will mean that these jobs are insecure, there is lack of statutory protections and recognitions, and the jobs are of low wages and also lack of benefits for women. This will mean that the women will have this inequity in comparison to men. (Armstrong, 1997)

There is the implication that the women will be in dependence on the economy with the other best jobs given to men and provided with other benefits that accompany employments. The dominance of women in less beneficial employments both in the formal and informal economy shows that they are disadvantaged and discriminated from the labor market. With the changes taking place ion the home based work and export-processing sectors then there is increase in employment for cheap labors that is provided by women. This will mean that most of the flexibility that is attached to labor will have temporally workers without benefits. The trade liberalization has led to many women losing their efforts to work in the agricultural sector as they face discrimination from the producers who gain access to new economy activities.

There is the global move that is made for the female laborers and other minor groups to standards of employment that is for formal labor market. In Canada the women are working in the informal and non-standard sectors meaning that they are discriminated in the private sectors and have limited vacancies in public sectors. The non standard work that is available is able to offer temporally employment or their is lack of employment completely. This will mean that the women will be in danger of losing jobs any time there is an economic change in the country unlike the men who have stable jobs with benefits. In the public sectors there is funding of crisis and social sector restruction, which have led to reduction of women access to day care and employment strategies. (Faraday, 2003)

The occupational segregation is highly experienced in Canada where the women are employed in low paying jobs and home based jobs. The gender discrimination in labor force and work place has high effects to the economy in Canada this is because the women are discriminated and seen to have low production in economy which had led to the provision of the poorly paying jobs. The women having skills for securing good jobs just like men has been facing this disadvantage due to the fact that they are seen to have low production even with these skills and therefore these women in high positions will not get the same jobs like the men in that similar position. There is the widening wage gap that exists in work places where by this wage gap is affected by the changes in overall wage structure, there is the labor market skills and productivity and also gender specific factors which involves racisms and lack of skills. This will mean that the women will not be able to achieve their target of entering the new economy and get the equity due to the differences that are considered by different sectors.

The pay discrimination of women on labor market is based on: the women due to their female gender will face the discrimination in getting compensation in the economy. This discrimination is extended even with the view that the women do valuable jobs or not and therefore there is the indication that their wages will remain low. There is discrimination of women in different work where by the activities that are done by men are seen not to be done by the women which means that there are jobs for men and those of women. This will imply that the wages will remain to be low for females as the women will be given the low paying jobs as compared to men. There is also the under valuation of the women work in that they are seen to do work that is less productive in comparison to men and this will imply that the wages will remain low.

This is because there are many demands, conditions and contributions that are attributed to women work. But having these skills they are seen to produce goods that are of low value in comparison to men. The discrimination is also based on three factors that is the industrial, the capabilities of women and the employer this will mean that even if she does work as expected these factors will lead to discrimination because the people have the view towards women that they are not able to work as expected. There is need for other experiences that will lead to discrimination of women this is because the women are seen to have limited experiences in certain jobs meaning that they can not work well as required. There is the failure of the employer to recognize the skills women, which will lead to further discrimination as they are seen to offer low production.(Jan,2000)

Therefore there is need for women to come up with strategies that will improve their working places and lead to equality that will balance women in the best jobs that have top be offered in the country. Therefore the labor market should have the measures and policies that will lead to reduced discrimination of women. There are the pay equity laws and strategies that are placed in the country so that they can curb this problem of women discrimination in the country. These laws are to identify the required compensations and offer the adjustments that have to be attached to the work of women. The changes in wage and other human remedies. The pay equity strategies is concerned with ensuring that women who are undervalued in labor market are able to get the services that will boost their performance and change their socioeconomic status. The women compensation is set by the minimum wage and collective bargaining rules and union practices so that the women are able ton get benefits the same as men. Thus the pay equity measures addresses the mechanisms as well as the country specific structure of the labor nark regulation. The measures are based on labor market include the laws for establishment of minimum wages, the promotion of collective bargaining that is required in areas where women work and the establishment of the women jobs so that they can be paid in comparison to men.

There are the employment equity laws and measures that are aimed at eliminating different barriers that are faced by women and are designed by different groups with the main target been to reduce the discrimination that is faced by women. There is an employment equity act that ensures that there are set rules that lead to covering of the disadvantaged women in work place. This means that the policies and measures that are set are in basis of women to ensure that equity in employment is achieved. (Poole, 1995)

Conclusion

Women have been discriminated in several fields and thus the need to have laws to cover them so that they can be secure.

The Canadian women need for employment equity has been achieved through the laws and regulations that have been set by different groups. This is because women have been suffering with skills that are similar to those of men but not able to secure best jobs.
