Skill deficit is one of the most troubling problems in the workplace. This behavior can manifest itself in many employees in the absence of proper training or qualifications. Thus, behaviors such as time management are issues that need to be studied and ways to assess them for improvement. It can be blamed on the constant lateness of employees, the late completion of assigned tasks, or delays in attending meetings or conferences. It is worth noting that this problem can also be caused by a lack of motivation to perform work activities.
Consideration of assessment procedures that contribute to determining the nature of the problem under discussion is particularly valuable. Hence, one of such measures may be the observation and monitoring of an individual’s actions in the workplace. This includes tracking attendance and lateness, as well as attitude towards the activity performed, poor quality of work, and missed deadlines (Rosierr, 2020).
This will help to understand the nature of the employee’s time management, which may be caused by unwillingness to perform a task or a lack of skill (Levasseur, n.d.). Additionally, it may be beneficial to conduct a survey with an individual who is monitoring the problem being discussed. In this case, it is crucial to divide the questions into those that will identify a lack of skill or motivation. This measure may be particularly effective, as it focuses on receiving feedback directly from the employee.
In conclusion, skill deficits or motivational difficulties may be the underlying causes of certain undesirable behaviors in individuals. Within the framework of this work, attention was drawn to issues related to the problem of time management, which can cause problems in both aspects. Thus, to identify this indicator, it is necessary to conduct an assessment that will help find ways to address the difficulty that has arisen.
