A nursing home offers quality care for the old people who are outside the hospital by allowing them to be taken care of in the homes for the elderly. Among the services in the nursing home is custodial care, including assistance in getting in and out of bed, feeding, dressing, and bathing. Nursing homes have gone through various changes over the last decades due to government legislation and market pressure. Modern nursing homes are highly equipped and provide high-quality care to the elderly. The advanced facilities provide medication and care for the elderly (Hope 1189). The nursing home is governed by regulations that ensure that the elderly are provided with conducive services. Care homes have gone through various changes in the past, and the advancement in technology exposes the homes to have more chances.
I plan to develop smart home care for the elderly in the U.S. and China. In both countries, nursing homes have been making tremendous advancements in the services for older people. The homes have tried to adopt smart home care for the elderly by applying technology to take care of them. For instance, China has been using smart care homes since 2008, when it had to go through three different development stages (Hope 1189). The stages are the start-up stage, development stage, and making it famous stage. The use of technology in nursing homes has made their services to be more effective and efficient.
Additionally, I will use AI in nursing care homes for older people. Significant progress has already been made in such smart homes in China and the U.S. I will formulate the technical standard for the elderly and encourage the existing care homes to embrace AI in their smart homes. The AI application will ensure proper management of healthcare professionals and ensure adequate service delivery in care homes both in China and U.S. For instance, in the U.S., the healthcare industry has over 4.5 million personal care aides, nursing aides, orderlies, and home health aides (Jin 21). The adoption of AI will, therefore, ensure that many older adults are served.
My nursing home will also apply deep learning, computer learning, and machine learning for the elderly. Using each of the above will make my nursing homes have an easy time watching over those older people and easy supervision of service delivery. The nurses will learn how they handle themselves through deep learning (Jin 21). Machine learning and computer learning will keep the older adults’ mental status very occupied and busy. It will also help boost their memory as it will train them to remember what they have learned. Therefore, deep learning, machine learning, and computer learning will play a key role in keeping the elderly occupied.
I will also incorporate robotics use to take care of older people in nursing homes. The eldercare robots apply machine learning and proactive suggestions to entertain and provide activities that help maintain the well-being of the elderly and monitor their physical environment. For example, the robots will be reminding the elderly to take their medicine and also organize cabs for the elderly (Jin 21). The robots will remind the elderly about their daily appointments and make prompt suggestions like asking them if they would love to play cards at certain moments. The robotics will be giving the elderly companion and ensuring their safety.
Additionally, I will use Accenture Liquid Studio in nursing homes for the elderly. The AI-powered Accenture Liquid Studio was developed in London. The platform will help in learning older people’s preferences and behavior. Also, the platform will proactively suggest mental and physical activities for those who are above 70 years. The platform will enable the caregiver to be checking on the patient more frequently (Jin 21). The platform will show the older person’s sleeping time and routine and alert the caregiver if any changes in the behavior are detected. The use of Accenture Liquid Studio will help the caregivers to have proper monitoring of the elderly.
Subsequently, I will use Human pose detection robots to monitor the elderly. The human pose detection will provide fast responses if an adult has had an accident or has fallen. It will suggest the necessary measures to be effectively taken (Zhao 43). The robotic application will ensure that the adults in the nursing home are safe without having direct monitoring.
Ethical hurdlers are essential in checking caregivers in nursing homes. Elderly care being a challenge in China and the U.S., many robotic research institutes have been engaging in nursing home space. The innovation ensures that nurses offer the best of their services to the elderly. The ethical hurdlers help monitor the caregivers and ensure that they are friendly when taking care of the old. When a caregiver misbehaves, the robotic reports the caregiver to the management. Hence, the caregivers offer the services with a lot of integrity, dedication, dignity, and honesty.
Robots use substitute caregivers who are serving in nursing homes. Robots will ultimately replace the services offered by caregivers. However, there are challenges associated with robotic use since robots are set on specific functionality with no critical decision-making ability, hence the need to incorporate both robots with humans (Zhao 43). The robot may resemble a person or any other animal but lacks the coherency, but the robot can be programmed to act like a person and hold a conversation with the adults.
The nursing homes will also be fitted with a robot that can take action if a person refuses to take medicine. The robot reminding the older adult to take medication is programmed with alternatives if an adult refuses to honor the medication. The robot convinces the adult to take medicine and acts like a person when addressing the issue. Hence, AI technology ensures that a person has taken medication.
In conclusion, the advancement in AI will foster services that are being provided by nursing homes. I will apply multiple techniques to ensure the success of AI technology in nursing homes. I will use deep learning, computer learning, and machine learning for the elderly. I will also use robotics, Accenture Liquid Studio, a human pose detection robot, technological ethical hurdlers, and robotics in substituting and reinforcing caregivers in nursing homes. AI technology will, therefore, form the basis of my nursing home operation, and offer a client-based approach, the primary driver of all my nursing services. I will also conduct periodical assessments of all the technologies applied in my nursing home and keep them updated with the highly advancing technological world. AI is the appropriate technique for any nursing organization that strives to attain effectiveness and efficiency.
