The main difference between the treatment of chronic and acute ailments is that the indicators used to analyze the effectiveness of the treatment of acute diseases are usually associated with the recovery time of the sick. However, these metrics cannot be utilized for those with chronic illnesses. Healthcare Effectiveness and Information Set (HEDIS) could measure standardized performance to establish a reliable healthcare plan for individuals with chronic disorders (Gray et al., 2018). In this sense, I support the student’s thoughts and believe that healthcare initiatives can alter Medicare or Medicaid.
It is an immense success that some insurance have changed their programs for people of different ages with different diseases. The example about mammography provided by Donna shows the drastic need to revise the coverage plans. In addition, I agree that the system of automated triggers can improve health outcomes. They can prevent adverse health alerts and ensure safe care practices.
Chronic disease management is vital for a healthcare facility since it ensures lower morbidity and mortality rates. Even though the hospitals conduct quality measures, they disregard quality assurance. However, this process is pivotal for measuring positive health outcomes since it identifies potential problems (Cookson et al., 2018). There were some attempts to evaluate and compare the reliability of Medicare Advantage (MA) and traditional fee-for-service (FFS) Medicare. I think it was evident that the former insurance plan suggested better options to its users. Primarily, the metrics viewed other screenings as a part of the coverage plan. I am not convinced that such services should be solely included in the premium plans and should become standardized. Otherwise, there will be a significant decline in the performance of healthcare organizations.
