Ethics is widely defined as the knowledge of conduct. It is the assessment of human behavior while referring to their deeds thus includes the correct and wrong that occurs in their life. Ethics also captures the aspect of a tendency to do good or evil. It is essential to understand the restrictions of moral codes, principles and standard in our fields. One should also know how well to address pertinent ethical dilemmas. One comes across various issues in life that might confirm or challenge their ethical understanding and reasoning.

As a practitioner, it is central to recognize the influence individual beliefs, artistic values, environment, social identity, and biases have on individual views, theoretical viewpoints, perspectives, and professional activities. For one to make well-considered pronouncement about the responsibility of moral principles in general psychology, it is indispensable to acquire knowledge in personal worldview and multicultural perspectives.

This helps an individual improve on the skills already acquired in school, thus more understanding. Supplementary skills are fundamental concepts that will make an individual recognize the adjoining environment in which he is in association with. Having a better understanding of the present environment improves the relationship between individuals. There are also supplementary steps and formula to complete that will enable one to comprehend and apply sound principled reasoning to address multicultural and principled issues and dilemmas concerning broad psychology.

From my personal assessment of ethics in widespread psychology, I view ethics as the moral demeanor of an individual. This includes both moral and immoral deeds of a person; this is far much a detailed perception of human life. I also assess ethics as the knowledge of proper decision and conduct. This is because an individual is judged from the demeanor and this decision must be on a moral basis. The potency of principled codes, main beliefs and standard is that they give practitioners a structure within which to work. They also proscribe certain activities that help determine if a practitioner’s conduct was adequate (Lozano, 2001).

They enable the patients grasp an idea of what to anticipate or demand from the practitioner. These also do ensure practitioners have reliability in their ethical behaviors on the same professional context. The weaknesses of moral codes, principles and standard are that they might make professionals break away from community scrutiny as they are monopolistic. They might be used as synthetic public relations tool and for rationalizing of professionals. They might omit the professionals from the social context. They do deal with ethical dilemmas sufficiently as they give the guideline to a practitioner (Lozano, 2001).

In my investigations and readings, I have learnt a number of concepts about ethics that has confirmed or challenged my ethical considerate and reasoning. What confirmed my principled understanding and way of thinking are I realized that ethical reasoning considers two key concepts. The first impression is those which bring about the well being of others and thus warrant ones praise (Paul & Elder, 2006).

The second concept pertains to bringing about harm or those that diminish the well being of others. It is noteworthy that this usually warrants one’s criticism. In the beginning, I had these concepts of ethical understanding; it is only that I did not have the substantiation to make certain my ideas. My ethical understanding and reasoning is the fact that we have the capacity to theoretically understand ones deeds in life and the challenges experienced (Paul & Elder, 2006).

This is so, as one can imagine themselves selves in other people’s circumstances and thus; conclude how they would think if one acts contrary to conventional factors. We are able to adjudicate ones actions basing on how they shape other people in the society we reside. These two modes of ethical understanding have made it easier to broaden my ethical understanding and reasoning.

It is essential for a practitioner to appreciate the influence individual beliefs, artistic values, environment, social identity and biases have on individual views, hypothetical viewpoints, outlook and professional activities. This will help the practitioner to appreciate a patient’s behavior. This is because he will know the issues and factors that activate an individual’s demeanor. This is an essential factor for the practitioner as it eases his work. Understanding these issues will also enable the practitioner adequately formulate remedy to enable the patient or individual to adapt to new cultural setting (Fite, 2009).

This is important when dealing with a patient who has never practiced new culture other than his own. For a patient, with individual beliefs understanding the influence of these individual beliefs helps the practitioner to avoid making offensive statements and actions. This is so to avoid annoying the patient or the individual. Impact of such factors to an individual’s views, conjectural viewpoints, perspectives and certified activities do contribute in a large percentage to an individual’s conduct. This is a chief area of apprehension to the practitioners as it enhances the evaluation of their patients (Fite, 2009).

So as, to learn more about my personal worldview and multicultural perspectives, I construct well-considered pronouncement concerning the function of moral principles, in broad psychology. This insinuates that I have measures in place. I plan to do a lot of investigation on this question consequently broadening my acquaintance on the role of ethics in general psychology. Study is the most steadfast aspect of knowledge as it culminates in the authenticity that can not be found in books alone (Kizza, 2007). It is the most consistent technique of acquaintance since research is based mainly on reality. I also plan to do a lot of practice in my field as a practitioner so as to gain the familiarity I need (Kizza, 2007).

This will enable me to learn more about my personal worldview and multicultural perspectives to ensure I construct well-considered decisions with reference to the function of ethics in general psychology. Practicing in my field as a practitioner is a vital means to gain experience that I did not get in class (Lozano, 2001). It exposes me to the practical aspect of my field and makes me gain the necessary skills. This will also enable me learn more about my personal worldview and multicultural perspective.

An additional knowledge and skill I would love to acquire is solving of ethical dilemma. This is an essential concept in human life as it enables an individual to solve problems which require adverse thinking and considerations. Skill and knowledge in solving ethical dilemmas enables one to acquire all the tendencies required to partake different issues (Lozano, 2001). This can be at occupation, school or any other place where the personality spends time most. Ethical dilemmas commonly occur in human life, thus the knowledge and skill in solving this predicament is needed for one to live a customary and easy life.

An individual can easily learn the art of solving ethical dilemmas through experiences in life (Dye, 1988). Issues about ethical dilemmas can be encountered in different human environment. In the occurrences of principled dilemma, one is expected to apply knowledge of solving the dilemmas in an ethical manner. Ethical dilemmas are sometimes used to test the moral level of an individual’s mind.

There is a supplementary step and procedure I would complete to ensure that I recognize and apply apt ethical reasoning to address multicultural and ethical issues and dilemmas concerning general physiology. I would stick to the ethical codes, philosophy and standards of my specialization and at the same time not restricting my judgment and conduct to these issues alone (Lozano, 2001). I will make certain I execute my duties according to the predetermined regulations of my occupation. Where an ethical dilemma is solved through an idea outside my line of work regulations, I will solve it out side those principled codes and standards (Lozano, 2001).

This is because principled decision exceeds the previously set ethical codes, values and standards. The set regulations are only there to steer us on which approach to pursue but not to dictate our pronouncement thus making procedures or even the decisions. If a practitioner sticks to the set rules and policy of practice he might end up not satisfying the ethical codes, standards and principles. A little bit of variation is imperative to perform a good professional work.
