The research is about the role of social support and individual coping strategies both physically and emotionally within the work place. The article focuses particularly on relationship between health care-related occupational stress and individual’s health. The research utilized the use of surveys whereby 212 midwives and medical nurses were involved. The survey involved answering questions based on different categories.
The final results revealed that neither of the coping strategies had an impact on the research question. On the other hand it was found out that the levels of social support were either destructive or of some advantage depending on the reported level of job stress. When the worker combines high level of support with high job stress, the ultimate results were poor health status (Button, 2009).
These results were contrary on the fact that, the lower the support the better the health status since high level of stress was associated with good health. The discussion on the whole issue reveals that the overall level of social support and the level of stress based on job done were closely linked to mental status of the worker as well as physical health. The research reveals that there was need for examining factors leading to formation of support networks and deterioration of physical health of some workers. Researchers in the field of healthcare have diverse theoretical experiences that mainly govern their research work.
