The Explanation

The first thing to consider is physiological needs starting from the base of the modified pyramid of needs. In this list, they are the same for almost all people and differ in subject matter, format, and class of a person’s occupation. The requirements for a working and studying person are presented in this case. The peculiarity of these requirements is that they have been unchanged and are unlikely to change in the future. The basis is livelihood, which must be sufficient for subsistence, a place to live, and the satisfaction of basic needs.

In the workspace, it is likewise important that the working conditions are appropriate for the employee’s health and that they are not negatively affected physically. This factor only sometimes works to its full potential, as higher earnings often have a higher priority, allowing for high-stress levels, for example (Griffen et al., 2017). On the other hand, the workspace on the physiological level implies a workplace, communication, hygienic facilities, and the possibility of satisfying hunger and thirst. At the same time, higher specific requirements and demands refer to something other than the first step of the pyramid.

The category of safety needs is quite broad and partially overlaps with physiological and expected needs. It includes concerns about the physical security of one’s body and loved ones, legal security, and digital security. In my opinion, the legal section implies security under the law and includes the protection of financial independence. Digital security, in addition to internal factors such as digital literacy and information handling skills, must be secured by external means, software, or physical methods.

The need for security grows over time and is complemented by expanding personal and work activities. It is especially evident these days in the development of digital security and the attempts to provide this security to employees in all modern companies. Technology development is the main stable reason for this, as it entails the evolution of danger in the first place (Griffen et al., 2017). The expansion and increase in physical security needs may be the increase in family or property and the elaboration of my operating space.

Belongingness needs, in my case, imply a sense of belonging in society and the work collective. It forms and develops over time, adding and growing as I gain experience. Those listed in the pyramid are the main ones at the moment. In the future, the influence of the share of relations with colleagues will decrease, and understanding goals and current occupation as the optimal method of achieving them will increase proportionately.

Esteem needs are a mixture of all the other divisions of the pyramid, as I personally understand them. In part, they relate to personal prejudices and expectations of specific actions, conditions, or fulfillment of my needs from the environment. However, there is an understanding of the importance of my contribution to achieving these needs, which links the stage to the top of the pyramid. The need for respect, in my case, did not practically change in volume but only in purpose, depending on the activity. For the same reason, it can be changed in the future.

The need for self-actualization depends on the assessment of my own capabilities and requirements for myself. The ambition was included in this category, as professional and career development within my chosen profession is essential. Self-development is necessary because, in today’s world, one cannot stay behind the rapid development of any industry. Accordingly, the needs of this format can likewise change over time in the direction of expansion and concretization.
