In Canada, the economy was prospering in 2017, but one may say that the country became a victim of its successes. While Canada managed to significantly reduce unemployment rates, “there were more than 361,700 jobs left unfilled in the third quarter,” leading to the vacancy rate jumping to 2.8% (CBC News, 2017). These shocking numbers have certain implications for HR recruitment. First of all, such a labor shortage means that the periods of searching for new employees will be delayed, and now it is necessary to introduce new, more effective talent retention measures. Firms cannot afford to lose many workers because it will be challenging to replace them. Another implication is that companies need to update their recruitment requirements by increasing salaries and making more attractive, comfortable, and competitive conditions. In this case, people will want to return to these positions and choose firms with better working conditions.

Workplace discrimination is an acute concern that has to be addressed by all companies globally. In Canada, anti-bias software helps firms hire people focusing only on their skills and knowledge, but later, hired women can experience an unwelcoming atmosphere and unequal conditions (CBC News: The National, 2018). Therefore, to address this issue at the job analysis stage, employers have to become aware of their own biases and prejudices and express a strong commitment to creating and maintaining a workplace of inclusion, diversity, and belonging. In other words, employers have to make sure that their job description refers to a vast number of different people, focusing precisely on position requirements, not gender, age, or race. The next stage, work design, it is required managers to ensure that the success of the team is in its diversity and inclusion. The staff members need to receive equal rewards and also be punished equally so that both males and females feel that they have similar workplace rights and responsibilities.
