Major Functions and Services

Google Corporation is an American company providing one of the most powerful search engines in the world. It handles 70 percent of online search over the world (Horsh & Hall, n.d.). Apart from the search function, Google suggests a wide range of necessary services. For more information, people can use maps with GPS navigation, translation in more than 100 languages, Google Books, and a secure internet browser Chrome.

For entertainment, there exist YouTube, Google Play Music, Chromecast, and Google Play Movies and TV. For connecting others and self-organization Gmail, Googler Allo, Google+, Photos, Contacts, and other functions are available. Moreover, the company provides an internet-based drive to store the information and a service that allows sharing and editing various documents. Finally, Google has particular functions that are helpful for doing business and analytics (Google: Our products, 2017).

Internal Workflow

The workflow at Google corporation is known for the innovative approaches. In 2006, MBA students considered Google a perfect place to work (Schneider, 2016). One of the Google mission statements says that “work should be challenging and the challenge should be fun” (Schneider, 2016, par.2). Thus, the company’s culture is aimed at the formation of a favorable working environment. Google hires people disregarding their experience and education. For example, the company employs college graduates who demonstrate fresh thinking (Schneider, 2016). The company does not have a strictly defined work rules. Much attention is given to employees’ self-realization instead (Steiber, 2014).

Internal Structure

Google company has a hierarchy which includes three levels (Google company hierarchy, 2013). Administrative Google Company Level is the highest level which includes specialists in charge of the administrative work for the corporation. These are experienced professionals with profound preparation in their sphere (Google company hierarchy, 2013). The positions of this level include Chairman, President, CEO, directors and senior managers. Executive Google Company level comprises middle-level professionals. They fulfill executive level functions. They may be team leaders or be in charge of separate departments (Google company hierarchy, 2013). Operational Google Company Level unites the specialists who are responsible for definite, specific fields in the company according to their skill (Google company hierarchy, 2013). This level includes engineers, technicians, programmers, analysts, etc.

Partners and Customers

Google company is an example of a business platform which demonstrates strong connections between partners and customers. Its major partners attract new customers (Google: Business Model Canvas, n.d.). Moreover, the existing partnerships keep the customers interested due to the constant development of new services. Since the main income of Google comes from advertising, steady, reliable partnerships are crucial for the company. Some of Google partnerships and acquisitions include NextEra Energy Resources, Global IP Solutions, Motorola Mobility, Quickoffice, GeoEye, Sun Microsystem, etc. For more than a decade Google remains the major search engine. Only in the USA as of 2008, there were 127 million people who preferred Google (Google: Business Model Canvas, n.d.). Moreover, its projects such as Google Chrome gain popularity from year to year.

Problems and Inefficiencies

Despite its leading positions, Google company observes some problems and inefficiencies. First of all, it is greatly dependent on the partners and advertising. Secondly, the number of products is growing, and it becomes more difficult for the consumers to keep them all in mind. Also, there is always a threat of less successful competitors that may suggest better or more productive services. Finally, due to the great number of functions and services, the interface of Google becomes rather complicated for an inexperienced user.
