The recent article “Google’s Switch to Android App Now Rolling Out in the Apple App Store” by Khan observes the newly available app created by Google. Namely, the company has launched the Switch to Android mobile application for iOS users wanting to change their devices and keep their data intact. As such, music, audio, backgrounds, reminders, call records, device settings, and free mobile apps are all available for transferring into new devices (Khan). Specifically, Google has made the program for the buyers of its Pixel phones based on Android, although other Android users can also access the app (Khan). Thus, Google’s new initiative has created technological advances for switching from iOS to Android with as few difficulties as possible.
The news has important business implications not only for Google but the industry of mobile applications in general. In fact, the decision to create this app is made for the purpose of removing the switching costs for the buyers. These are the emotional, financial, and effort-taking circumstances of changing one company’s goods for another. Hence, Google establishes more competitive advantages for its Android-based product. Moreover, this opportunity is also advantageous for the developers of Android apps since more customers can now switch to this alternative to iPhones. Therefore, the transferring app impacts the industry of mobile applications as a whole.
Although the author of the article does not express their opinion about the change, I can make a statement about the news. Namely, I believe that this app is important due to the fact that it marks the approval of Android-based devices and applications. The easy transfer of data allows for easy transition for Android users and creates a prestige image of the devices that employ this operating system, marking a shift in the sphere of technologies.
