The eclipse of Thales was an astronomical event that was predicted by Thales of Miletus, who correctly predicted it. It was the accuracy and correctness of the prediction that daunted astronomers for years to come. The next person to develop a means to predict such cosmic events would do it after four centuries. This event hailed a new set of astronomers who tried to figure out the means to predict such future events and change the thought of it being an omen to it being a natural event.
Artists who were profound in human anatomical knowledge developed Kouros in ancient Greece. The Greeks learned about human anatomy by observing human motion in the colosseums where male fighters used to fight naked. Another important fact is that the Greeks were great in battle, and many fights and wars were happening at the time. The kouros was a tool used for creating armor before being worn by soldiers. The influx of other societal cultures also influenced the development of the kouros.
Sparta began as a small farming community in southern Greece and when their population grew, they needed more land. Therefore, they did what was necessary and invaded the Messenians and after a long war, they won and made the Messenians their slaves. The Messenian population was ten times larger than the Spartans, so they revolted, but the Spartans still won again (Two very different city-states: Sparta and Athens., 2016). After this, the Spartans decided to be a military-style country with all men joining the army after the age of seven. The men focused on being warriors, and the women focused on having children and taking care of their property (Alen, 2019). The nation had two kings and other councils who oversaw the nation’s military might as that was their entire purpose.
