A personal home page can be effective if it is easy to navigate because, in this way, users are able to get the information they want without much difficulty. Navigation buttons are normally placed together to ensure simple navigation by the users. Easy navigation is essential because a user does not struggle to find information. For a home page to be effective, it must be easy to read by the user because there are some words and colors that can disturb users (‘What features make a good website’ par. 3). Apparently, is so tedious for people who strain to read from websites that have no clear words or poor colors. Thus, in order for a home page to be essential, the words and colors should be favorable to the user. Comfortably viewed home pages are effective as visitors can view the site without difficulties. Thus, visitors may have no problems regardless of a computer’s screen size. Ideally, a home page should be quick to download information because it saves a lot of time. It is effective to have a fast website because there is some information that normally consumes a lot of time (‘Make a website fast’ par. 3). Impatience can make a person click away so it is important to have a fast home page that will not fail users.
An effective home page is that one that has working links so that users can get information whenever they download information. A personal home page can be ineffective if it has dead links which may contain blank pages. Users of a particular home page can always visit the site several times because of motivating or interesting information. For this reason, it is important to have a home page that retained the content of available data. Varying data can prevent users from the page as they may not like inconsistency. Whatever data that is used must be saved elsewhere if there is a need to remove it from the site. Personal home pages should be reflective of who a person really is because they are personal windows on the internet. Through the home page, a person can talk about their problems and experiences to people who visit the site. For the sake of originality, a person should not change the content because it may create controversies leading to mistrust from the visitors. It is important to win the trust of people who would visit the site as much as they want. This trust should be cemented with interesting issues that will always lure the visitors back to the site (Roeder par. 5).
