Innovation is a very important activity in the current world where globalization is spreading very fast, and new trends in business are coming up. There are many creations and development of products that are set to meet new generation ideas. Implementing these changes in the marketplace is often a very tough idea since many obstacles usually present as the new product is being launched; new procedures are being developed and new services being devised.

What innovation would you like to implement and describe the innovative process that you would use to implement?

The innovation is to come up with will be to produce organic textiles. In the first phase, creativity here is to cut down the number of chemicals and dyes that are being used in the textile industry currently but may not be environmentally friendly. Some of the chemicals are, in most cases, carcinogenic. This innovation will also set to achieve higher margins for profits. In the second phase, Idea selection will be founded on the fact that environment conservation is critical for sustainability (Stamm 2003, p. 34).

Furthermore, there needs to be better products that are produced through superior technologies for better quality, effectiveness, and time to arrive at the market. The third phase, which is the development of this product will entail new skills, processes, and technologies. The processes will be redesigned to include green technology since such products are currently the only products that pose a greater chance of improvement. Organic farming will play a bigger role in the sustainability of environment-friendly fiber like cotton. Organic fertilizers will be encouraged to prevent commercial cotton fibers’ from dominating the market (Stamm 2003, p. 34).

Finally, the commercialization phase will be an easy process since the textile market is already stabled. However, the strategy that will be employed here will be to segment the market into medical, organic, industrial, and nanotextile niches. Niche marketing is expected to make a great impact as it separates customers and satisfies their needs. It’s also definite that many of the traditional textile products have already reached the maturity stage and are set to go down as competition toughens, and this is what opens room for the organic textile (Stamm 2003, p. 34).

What type of innovation would this be?

This innovation would be a market niche kind of innovation, as its set to open up new opportunities by using the technologies that are already in existence and making a few changes to conserve the environment. Use of natural fibers has been in place for some years textiles, at the advances in technology have been phasing this production away (Stamm 2003, p. 38). Since many countries are supporting the use of green products and many institutes are venturing into green technology, this has impacted the textile industry as well.

So far the organic textile is being sold at premium prices as opposed to the traditional ones. This market is set to grow as it can be produced from 95% of cotton fibers. They also meet the set standards by the quality assessment organizations. Furthermore, they are highly considered as environment friendly (Stamm 2003, p. 38).

Do you plan to use a planned or emergent strategy?

I would prefer to use an emergent strategy to deal with the innovation condition because it’s quite evident that new products would face very complicated and emergent system problems. The organic textile is likely to face very rapid development hitches, where advantages and disadvantages can be addressed early enough without creating alarm or fear of the innovations (Abrar et al., 2009, p. 3). One critical factor of this strategy is that it would be designed to face the changes in the market environment. This strategy will address the organizational condition and the decisional position as a complicated adaptive system that continuously evolves alongside the environment. Solutions and decisions are founded on the adaptability possibility (Stamm 2003, p. 42).

SWOT analysis of the market and the innovation

The strength of this innovation and market is that the textile market is already established and that many governments support green technology. Besides the ready market, there is also the possibility of government support because of the commitment to support green technologies (Abrar et al., 2009, p. 3). Due to the size of the industry, it’s possible to respond and flexibly adjust to the market very fast. It means that it’s possible to change and begin offering unique and specialized products to the specific needs of the market.

The weaknesses of this innovation are that the investment is not entirely what makes the textile industry. Many other stakeholders and players in the industry may be hard to beat. It is because the support by the government could cause an influx into organic textiles. However, there are several opportunities for developing this sector to greater heights (Abrar et al., 2009, p. 4). There are campaigns all over for industries to go green. It means that the organic textile innovation will get accepted by many people from other sectors of the economy as they are not harsh to the environment.

Organic production of textile products is a venture that encouraged the use of the labor force. Converting traditional farming techniques into organic is even much easier, and lesser inputs will be used as herbicide and fertilizers to grow the cotton fibers. THreats to These include a shift in customer perception, demographic figure, and developing technology (Abrar et al., 2009, p. 5). When major demographic changes occur, they tend to affect all lines of business, for instance, the immigration of Mexican to America offering cheaper labor to other sectors of the economy. New technologies are usually taunted are superior even when they degraded the environment. The people may prefer the use of synthetic fabric, which is cheaper than organic textile products.

If you need to collaborate to succeed, what are the factors that you need to consider?

The connection between the different cultures is what determines the compatibility of two different companies that are coming together t begin on a new path with the same goals, same management style and try to work out with the same strategies (Stamm 2003, p. 38). Culture is the main challenge that is viewed from two distinct entities that are coming together for business but with different backgrounds in terms of age, types of employees, management style, technology, and assets. It is important to note that, however, that culture is something that can change with time (Abrar et al., 2009, p. 4).

Championing change is the most appropriate leadership style for executing the required changes for this innovation

This strategy will see the industry attain stability and consistency since it supports sustainable innovation. The organization can be able to select the radical changes to support its objectives.

Identify a mental model from your organization and explain how could be inhibiting change?

The mental model of choice is the Schein model, which takes three steps of operation and addresses culture as a major barrier to change. The first step is an artifact, and this factor included features observable in an organization like office organization, traditions, and jargon. It can inhibit proper collaboration because some traditions are not compatible with different companies. The second step is the values and beliefs like the best leadership style, organizational structure, and duties of different workers (Abrar et al., 2009, p. 5). Different firms with dissimilar leadership or organizational structure may fail to integrate. Finally, there are basic assumptions that are critical as they give truths or realities about people and the organization. Some could be too difficult to bear hence hinders change.

Explain in detail three initiatives that you would put into place for your organization to make this your idea a success

The first initiative is a change in communication style. A supportive communication style refers to a style of communication where the degree of honesty and openness is high. Supportive communication improves employee’s job productivity while defensive communication reduces communication effectiveness. If there are innovations ten, the new product will require a new process hence a different communication style. The second initiative would be to put in place a new culture.

Collectivist culture tends to work in groups. In this culture, there is a high degree of loyalty amongst the employees. In a collectivist culture, employees hold that the firm’s welfare is as important as their own. There is a high probability of a merger and acquisition of entailing firms with different cultures failing. It arises from the fact that the employees have a different mindset. The third initiative would be to set up visionary goals.

Organizations are expected to plan for long-term achievement and have ways of expansion of the business. When innovations are introduced to the market, there are challenges. It calls for people who can work harder and feasible long-term objectives. To succeed, there needs to be a business strategy, the readiness to adapt to changes, and proper organizational competencies
