For many years now, the use of internet promotion in many businesses has gained much popularity with more and more companies and small businesses using on-line method of not only promoting their products but also selling them. The internet is providing both the business owners and the buyers an opportunity to improve their interactions to the benefits of the consumer as well as the seller.

The growth of internet promotion and sale has increased and so has the competition in the market. This then means that the consumers are not looking for goods or services with the lowest of prices but rather for quality of such products which is directly determined by a company’s recognition in the market. It is this importance of familiarity between the companies and the consumers that has led to the gradual growth of the online marketing through promotion and selling (Geld, 2006, p. 1).

However, the sites for such promotions are major determinants since they may be well or badly represented. A good site may be described as that which has advanced techniques of marketing and caters for the consumers’ interests. This may entail the use of a web site designer. In addition, provision of high quality information in such sites is equally essential in order to connect with the clients in proper manner.

Types of internet promotion

One of the most commonly used methods of internet promotion is the holding of winning games where products are labeled with winning codes for customers to visit the company’s website to check if they have worn. It is during such visits that the seller could gather important information on marketing from the customers.

This way, sellers are able to get information which would help them improve their products to better suit the needs of their customers. Company recognition is also attained which is a very crucial bridge in the ever growing market competition. Another method of internet promotion is through emailing.

However, this method may not be as effective as other methods because, for one, sending such junk emails may not be legal and secondly, the targeted customers may get disrupted by the emails and this only makes them less interested in the product being advertized. In order to avoid this, the seller needs to get the prospective customers and enter them into the online list program so that only they can receive such emails. Similarly, only relevant information on products should be send to the customers.

Online free classifieds are also common in the internet promotion field. This is because they are easy to create and easily accessible to customer except for the fact that they do not last but rather they are short lived. Other methods although not commonly used are we casting and search engine techniques.

Importance of internet promotion and selling

Just like any other form of promotion and advertisement, internet promotion and selling facilitated the ability of many sellers to maintain their customers which is a very important determining factor in the success of any form of business.

This is easily done through the internet by giving the customers the opportunity to get any information on products and hence making it easier for them to make decisions on what they want to buy (Lainne, 2011, p. 1). With the advancement of internet promotion, many companies are also using the internet to sell their products where they provide the goods in their websites alongside their prices.

This allows customers to choose what they want from the comforts of their homes especially where the company is offering free delivery for goods that have been bought. Since more and more people are using the internet for various reasons, promoting and selling products through the internet ensure that a larger number of customer receive the information unlike other promotion methods which are only accessible to less percentage of the population.

Since the higher the number of people getting information means a high sale of products, the use of online advertisement calls for increase in sales and subsequent profits for the seller. Familiarizing one’s business to the public is equally as important as selling them because as long as the people know the existence of a certain product, all they need to do is get it whenever they are in need.

Additionally, internet promotion leaves room for follow-ups by the seller. For instance, in the case of emailing, the seller may contact the customers later to enquire about the products that the customers purchased. This gives way for ideas on improvement of products (if any) from the customers.

With time, the seller turns more and more people into prospective customers through follow up and as the list of email contact increases, so does the sales of the product in question (Batchelor, 2010, p. 1). As a result of such continuous interaction between the seller and the buyer, the relationship between them is eventually improved allowing them to freely communicate hence mutual benefits are attained.

What makes internet promotion powerful is the search engine optimization technique which allows customers to use some keywords to search for detailed information on products of their choice. This tool is very important and should be utilized to the maximum in any company that needs to succeed in online marketing and promotion.

Another importance of internet promotion contributing to its effectiveness is the fact that the method involves less personal contact which may at times ruin the promotion efforts. Sometimes, promoters and prospective buyers may disagree on something especially when they are face-to-face and this may result to decreased sales. This is not the case when it comes to internet marketing since the two parties involved do not have to meet.

Unlike many other marketing and promotion methods, internet promotion and selling is cheap in relation to returned obtained afterwards (Maxey, 2011, p. 1). Since the most important thing in any business is customer satisfaction, internet promotion ensures that this goal is attained and hence leading to maintenance of existing customers. Such businesses have fewer expenses since it is much easier and cheaper to nurture existing customers than to get new ones which requires advertisements which could be costly.

Conclusion

As technology continues to advance, many businesses are making good use of it by using the internet to, not only promote their products but also sell them to customers. The main idea behind online marketing is to ensure customer satisfaction through provision of adequate information on products to the customers.

In addition, internet marketing allows the customers to take part in the product production to ensure that their needs are catered for. With customer satisfaction being the basis of any business, the chance of using internet marketing should be left to pass by but rather used maximally and appropriately, not only for the benefit of the customer, but for that of the business as well.
