This article provides a detailed and comprehensive overview of utilising the Kouzes and Posner model of transformational leadership in nursing. The authors (2021) discuss each of the five components of the model, how they influence the process of managing healthcare workforce, and how leaders can apply them in everyday practice. Moreover, the article offers specific examples to illustrate the process of implementing Kouzes and Posner model in real nursing setting, and demonstrate the importance of competent leadership.
Cheng et al. (2018) Leadership Practices of Nurse Managers for Implementing Evidence-Based Nursing in China
This is a qualitative research on how leadership approaches of nurse managers in China affect the implementation of evidence-based practices. Within the study, authors (2018) use the Kouzes and Posner model to assess and evaluate managers’ leadership qualities, and what role do they play in the real life nursing setting. The article also proposes strategies to encourage and empower nurse management leadership, as well as how to develop further individual practice to support evidence-based approach in nursing.
Kiwanuka et al. (2020) Nursing Leadership Styles and Their Impact on Intensive Care Unit Quality Measures: An Integrative Review
In this study, the authors (2020) explore how different leadership styles of nurses, including the Kouzes and Posner model, influence the quality of care in Intensive Care Unit. Nurses play a vital role in the management of intensive care patients, and the health outcomes depend directly on their performance. The authors (2020) review seven studies that are the most relevant to the topic, and offer a comprehensive explanation of their findings. Moreover, the article provides suggestions and potential strategies of applying different leadership styles in the ICU to enhance quality of care and management.
