Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest developing economies in the Middle East. The country is also the leading producer of oil in the world. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has opened its borders to international trade. This means that the country is accessible to external firms, and as such, competition is a fact that cannot be overruled as a factor that plays an important role in the business environment. Although the leadership of this country has tried to emphasize on the rights of women lately, this society is still largely patriarchal. All senior government positions are dominated by men. This has spill over to the business world. Most business units in this country are headed by men. This may appear to be normal to a person who fails to critically analyze the emerging trends in the market. It is coming out clearly that the world is embracing equality, and that women are also currently considered as people who can make it in leadership. When a firm ignores this fact, this can make a difference that may negate its performance in the market.
Conducting this study in this country was very important in helping define the approach of leadership that firms should consider using. This study helped in pointing out the leadership structure in the country in general, and stated how it affected the leadership of firms within this country.
