Although the incision following a caesarean section may be tender for 3-4 weeks, usually, it does not dry. Slight headaches persist for up to 3-4 weeks. You may undergo virginal discharge and breeding for a period of up to 5-8 weeks. The pelvic area undergoes pain for 3-4 weeks. The area around the virginal or the rectum may get swelling and experience pressure when urinating, or even make you to urinate frequently. For the first 3-4 weeks, you are likely to experience extreme fatigue and feel tired. In addition, slender irritability, depression, moodiness, or sometimes flashes may occur from time to time. Loss of sensation around the incision is also very common.

Provide and utilize teaching aids

As you recover your comfort and strength, you can gradually return back to your normal day to day activities. Immediately after you have left the hospital, you should not engage in any other activity apart from caring for yourself and your baby. Avoid lifting heavy weights or standing for long. It is, however, recommendable that you engage in regular walking so you can avoid many post operative complications and speed the healing process. Sexual intercourse should be avoided until the doctor clears you.

You are free to shower, but you should not use tub baths. Also, be sure to maintain the slit extremely clean and dry. To maintain good health, you should make sure you eat a well-balanced diet and drink plenty of water to avoid constipation. Until you have stopped taking pain medications and you have regained your body flexibility, you should desist from driving a car, though you can enjoy short car rides.

The abdominal slit should be gently cleansed using water and soap. Use a clean towel to pat the slit dry, but make sure you do not rub it. To avoid getting stained by the secretions during the healing process, it is recommendable to wrap the wound by a loose cloth. To protect yourself from vaginal discharge which may last up to 4 weeks, you may use a feminine pad, but avoid any form of intra-virginal products until you are cleared by the physician. Once discharged, you can embark all the necessary medication, but make sure you strictly follow the physicians instructions while breastfeeding.
